NitroMed is an emerging pharmaceutical company focused on the research, development and commercialization of proprietary pharmaceuticals based on the therapeutic benefits of the naturally occurring molecule nitric oxide. The goal is to become a leading, multi-product pharmaceutical company by developing innovative nitric oxide products. The Company's lead drug, BiDil , was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) June 23, 2005. BiDil is indicated for the treatment of heart failure as an adjunct to current standard therapy in self-identified black patients, to improve survival, prolong time to hospitalization for heart failure and improve patient-reported functional status. NitroMed is directly marketing BiDil to physicians who treat black patients with heart failure. By building on the BiDil development experience and commercialization infrastructure, NitroMed seeks to identify and market additional pharmaceutical products for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases for the black population. NitroMed is also applying nitric oxide technology with the goal of developing new pharmaceuticals, as well as safer and more effective versions of existing drugs. The research and development efforts focus on major diseases that are characterized by a deficiency in nitric oxide, such as cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases.

Roger Kitterman joined Mi3 Venture Partners in 2003. Roger is an experienced venture capital investor and has guided multiple venture-backed companies through the earliest stages of development. He represents Mi3 on the Board of FlowMedica. Roger has over ten years of venture capital experience investing in healthcare companies. He has also been the startup CEO for three venture-backed companies. Prior to joining Mi3, he was a managing director at Lee Munder Venture Partners, the venture capital arm of Lee Munder Capital Group. He joined Lee Munder from Boston University's Community Technology Fund, where he made venture capital investments in the life sciences and developed spinouts from the university. Roger began his venture capital career in Eastern Europe with the Bulgarian-American Enterprise Fund, a $55 million venture capital fund. Davey S. Scoon has served as a member of our board of directors since November 2003. Mr. Scoon serves as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tufts Health Plan, where he has been a director since 1981. He also serves as an adjunct instructor at Tufts University School of Medicine and on the board of trustees with Allianz Mutual Funds.
