NL Industries, Inc. (NYSE: NL) conducts its component products operations through its majority-owned subsidiary, CompX International, Inc. NL also owns a significant interest in Kronos Worldwide, Inc., a global producer and marketer of value-added titanium dioxide pigments ("TiO2"). CompX is among the world's largest producers of precision ball bearing slides, security products and ergonomic computer support systems. CompX's precision ball bearing slides are for use in moving drawers and containers in office furniture, electromechanical units and computer-related applications. CompX's security products are used for a wide variety of applications, including computers, office furniture and cabinetry, vending machines, postal boxes and motorcycles. CompX's ergonomic computer support systems and accessories are highly engineered products designed to provide ergonomic benefits for business and other sophisticated users. CompX's products are principally designed for use in medium to high-end product applications, where design, quality and durability are critical to CompX's customers. Kronos' TiO2 products are sold under the widely recognized Kronos brand name and are utilized in a diverse range of customer applications and end-use markets, including coatings, plastics, paper and other industrial and consumer markets. Don W. Gentry, Director. Dr. Gentry holds a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering. He has worked for several major companies as a mining engineer, including Anaconda Copper Company, Kennecott Copper Corporation, and NL Industries, and has served on the Board of Directors of several companies, including Santa Fe Pacific Gold Corporation, Newmont Mining Corporation, and Polymet Mining Corporation, where he also served as President & CEO. Dr. Gentry is an Emeritus Professor at the Colorado School of Mines where he served on the faculty in Mining Engineering for 26 years. Dr. Gentry also currently serves on the Board of Gryphon Gold Corporation. Cecil H. Moore, Jr. , age 69, has served on our board of directors since 2003. Mr. Moore is currently a private investor and retired from KPMG LLP in 2000 after 37 years in which he served in various capacities with the public accounting firm. Among other positions, he served as managing partner of the firm's Dallas, Texas office from 1990 to 1999. Prior to 1990, Mr. Moore was partner-in-charge of the audit and accounting practice of the firm's Dallas, Texas office for 12 years.
