Dr. O'Connor received her medical degree at Medical College of Wisconsin in 1985; she also completed her Internal Medicine residency there. She went on to complete her Infectious Diseases fellowship at Kansas University Medical Center. She joined Infectious Disease Associates in 1990. Dr. O'Connor is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. She is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America, Society of Hospital Epidemiologist, and numerous local societies. She is based at North Kansas City Hospital and is also on staff at Liberty Hospital. She has immense experience of managing a very large comprehensive HIV program as well as clinical studies for HIV treatment. She has a strong interest in infection control and is the hospital Epidemiologist at North Kansas City Hospital.
