Northern Nevada Medical Center and Universal Health Services, Inc. have announced the appointment of Mark W. Crawford as Interim CEO/Managing Director for Northern Nevada Medical Center. Crawford comes from Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, a 286-bed Universal Health Services facility where he has served as Chief Operating Officer. Crawford brings to NNMC more than 18 years of hospital and leadership experience. He received his MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and his BS from Charter Oak State College in New Britain, Connecticut. Crawford began his career in the United States Air Force in 1988 as a medical laboratory specialist. He transferred to the Air National Guard in 1992, where he served as the education and training manager for the Medical Squadron of the 182nd Airlift Wing in Peoria, Illinois. Since 1997, Crawford has led several rural and urban hospitals. Prior to joining UHS, he was employed by Health Management Associates at University Medical Center in Lebanon, Tennessee, where he served as CEO. University is a 257-bed two-hospital system serving the residents of middle Tennessee. Crawford also has held CEO and COO positions in California, Oklahoma and Virginia.

Dr. Witmer received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond and did his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He has been practicing at the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic since 1997. He is currently serving as the Co-Medical Director of Renown Rehab Hospital and has served as the Co-Medical Director of Washoe Rehab Hospital for the past 2 years. He is also currently serving as the Medical Director of Rehabilitation of Northern Nevada Medical Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, American Medical Association, University of Virginia Medical Alumni Association, Washoe County Medical Society and Nevada State Medical Association. He uses the latest technology to analyze and treat nerve and muscle damage, trauma and disease. He is trained in electrodiagnostic (EMG) and spine injections. Dr. Witmer is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Richard W. Blakey has served as a Director of EIG and EIG Inc. since April 2005 and a Director of EICN since January 2000. He was also a Director of ECIC and its predecessor from August 2002 until May 2004. Dr. Blakey is a Director and former Chairman of the Board of the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Nevada State Medical Association, and Washoe County Medical Society. Dr. Blakey actively participates and is affiliated with Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, Northern Nevada Medical Center, and Washoe Medical Center. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Reno Spine Center, is a member of the Board of Accessible, Reliable Care MedCenters LLC and a Director and former Chairman of the Board of the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic. Dr. Blakey is a Board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He received a B.S. degree from the California Institute of Technology and his medical degree from the University of Southern California, School of Medicine.
