Before Chicago Specialty Gardens became reality, Phil spent 15 years in the field of marketing and integrated communications following his college business education. This education and working background are still the primary strengths he brings to the company, where his roles include general management; formulating the company's strategic direction; marketing; supplier development and public outreach. He also designs and directs installation of the company's landscape lighting and micro-irrigation efforts. In the early 1990s Phil began exploring alternative career options and started Wild Garden Specialty & Seasonal Foods, a venture to market organic traditional Japanese shiitake mushrooms to Chicago's finest restaurants through a joint project with the Minnesota Forest Resource Center. While Wild Garden was short-lived, it proved valuable experience in the genesis of Chicago Specialty Gardens, which was conceived to design and install themed gardens for Chicago clients: shade gardens, fragrance gardens, color gardens, butterfly gardens, etc. This original concept led to an overall specialization theme within the company, and has led the company to focus on innovative garden design approaches, materials, methods, technologies and niche markets. The company has recently established the CSG Rooftop Garden Division to focus its efforts in this important new category, and will be articulating all aspects of rooftop living through THE ROOFTOP LIVING LIFESTYLE and THE ROOFTOP LIVING COLLECTION. As the outlines of Chicago Specialty Gardens were developing, Phil was completing courses in urban forestry (through Openlands Project); garden design; soil, tree, shrub and perennial culture and usage (at the Chicago Botanic Garden), and the Master Gardener program (through UIC Extension Service). Phil continues his education through courses in business management, design and industry-specific seminars and courses. He is an adjunct professor at Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies teaching Growing Your Business for aspiring green industry professionals. Phil's outside interests include distance running, vegetable gardening, cooking, poker, reading, billiards, and music of many varieties. He can be spotted at the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas each spring as well as assorted music venues throughout Chicago.

Troy Henikoff is Amacai's President and responsible for its growth and strategic direction. Troy has built a series of successful, high growth businesses over the last 20 years. Most recently, Troy co-founded SurePayroll.com, an Internet based payroll service bureau focusing on companies with under 100 employees. Under his leadership as President, SurePayroll grew from an idea on paper to a nationally recognized payroll service bureau in less than three years. Today, SurePayroll is the #1 Internet payroll provider and the fifth largest payroll company in the country, managing billions of payroll dollars annually. In 2005 they were named No. 53 in Inc. magazine's 24th annual Inc. 500 ranking of the fastest-growing companies in the country. Prior to SurePayroll, Troy was at Jellyvision, Inc., recruited specifically to build a software development capability from scratch. Within 18 months, Troy managed to build a team and set of tools for quickly creating highly interactive multimedia experiences. Troy's team used these tools to build products like "You Don't Know Jack " for Jellyvision, and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire " for Disney Interactive. Before Jellyvision, Troy founded Specialized Systems and Software, which focused on creating custom database applications. They quickly developed a national presence, with a client list that included several Fortune 500 companies. In 1992, Medline Industries purchased the business, and it became the Systemetrics Division of Medline Industries, the largest privately-held US manufacturer and distributor of medical products. Within five years, Systemetrics' software was installed in nearly 10 percent of the nation's hospitals. In addition to his "day job," Troy serves as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University, teaching entrepreneurship. He is also a board member at Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center and Kohl Children's Museum of Greater Chicago.
