Richard S. Hill has been Novellus' chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors since 1993. He was appointed chairman of the board in May 1996.
Before joining Novellus, Mr. Hill spent 12 years at Tektronix, Inc., where he held a variety of positions, including president of Tektronix Development Company, vice president of the Test and Measurement Group and president of Tektronix Components Corporation. Prior to joining Tektronix, he held engineering management positions at General Electric, Motorola and Hughes Aircraft Company.
Mr. Hill holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in business administration from Syracuse University. He is a board member of the University of Illinois Foundation and serves on the boards of LSI and Arrow Electronics.
Dr. Sass Somekh is the President of Novellus Systems. Prior to joining Novellus, Dr. Somekh spent 23 years at Applied Materials, most recently as executive vice president and chairman of the company's Global Executive Committee. Before joining Applied, he worked at Bell Laboratories and Intel Corporation. Dr. Somekh has enjoyed a distinguished career in the semiconductor capital equipment business, transitioning from engineering and technology roles into executive management positions. He played a pivotal role in the development of products that have revolutionized the manufacturing of semiconductor devices.
Mr. Benzing is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer, a position he has held since March 2004. Since joining the Company in November 1988 as Director of Special Projects, Mr. Benzing has held a number of positions, including Executive Vice President of the Depositions Business Group from January 2002 through February 2004; Executive Vice President, Systems Development, Engineering and Manufacturing Operations from July 1999 through December 2001; and Vice President in charge of Product Development from July 1992 through June 1999. From 1984 to 1988, Mr. Benzing was Vice President of Engineering of Benzing Technologies, a company that he co-founded. From 1979 to 1984, Mr. Benzing served in various positions at Hewlett Packard Company, an information technology company. Mr. Benzing holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Science degree from Stanford University, both in mechanical engineering.

Dr. Gino Addiego joined Novellus in February 2005. As the company's executive vice president of corporate operations, he oversees all of Novellus' manufacturing, supply chain, systems engineering, facilities, and corporate quality organizations.
Prior to joining Novellus, Dr. Addiego spent more than eight years at Applied Materials, where he was responsible for global operations (including manufacturing and supply chain), central engineering, information technology, facilities and all of the product groups. Before that, he worked at KLA-Tencor and Photon Dynamics.
Dr. Addiego received both his bachelor's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He holds seven patents and was nominated for the National Inventor of the Year Award in 1993.
Timothy M. Archer is executive vice president of the PECVD Business Unit and the Electrofill Business Unit at Novellus. Mr. Archer joined the company in 1994 and has held a number of positions, including senior vice president and general manager of the PECVD Business Unit, senior vice president of the Dielectrics Group, senior vice president of PECVD and Electrofill, vice president and general manager for the Electrofill Business Unit, senior director of technology for the Electrofill Business Unit, and senior director of technology for Novellus Systems Japan. Before joining Novellus, Mr. Archer was employed at Tektronix, Inc. Mr. Archer completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in applied physics from the California Institute of Technology.
Dr. Caulfield joined Novellus in October of 2005. He is responsible for marketing and selling Novellus' products and services throughout the company's global sales and service regions.
Prior to joining Novellus, Dr. Caulfield spent 16 years at IBM. In his most recent assignment as vice president of 300 MM Semiconductor Operations, Dr. Caulfield was responsible for the financial management and operation of IBM's premier semiconductor facility located in East Fishkill, New York. Prior to joining IBM he worked at Philips Laboratory as a senior member of the research staff. He began his career working at Columbia University.
Dr. Caulfield earned two undergraduate degrees—one in materials science/metallurgy from Columbia University and another in physics from St. Lawrence University. He received both his master's and doctorate degrees in materials science/metallurgy from Columbia University. Dr. Caulfield serves on the board of directors of PDF Solutions, Inc.
Martin J. Collins is senior vice president and general counsel for Novellus. He joined the company in November 2006.
Prior to joining Novellus, Mr. Collins was vice president, associate general counsel and assistant secretary of Oracle Corporation. Prior to joining Oracle, Mr. Collins was a corporate partner at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, where he worked from 1991 until 2005.
Mr. Collins received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political economy from Williams College and his Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Bayly brings to Inovys over 20 years experience building and managing sales and field operations teams. Previously, Dave served as Vice President of Lam Research where he led sales and field operations for North America and Europe through a turnaround phase. He also served as a Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Corporate Officer at Tencor Instruments, which he joined when the company purchased Prometrix Corporation. At Prometrix, Dave led the worldwide sales and field technical support team. Earlier as Vice President of North American Sales at Novellus Systems, he helped build a sales and support organization from the ground up. Dave began his career at Hewlett Packard and later spent time as a regional manager for leading semiconductor test companies Teradyne and Megatest. Dave graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the US Naval Academy.

Mr. Hertz is currently Vice President, Corporate Finance, and is also the Company's Principal Accounting Officer. Mr. Hertz joined Novellus in June 2007. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Hertz worked for Intel Corporation, where he held a number of positions, including Central Finance Controller of the Digital Enterprise Group from October 2006 through June 2007, Finance Controller of the Enterprise Platform Services Division from April 2005 through October 2006, and Accounting Policy Controller from June 2000 through April 2005. John Drewery works for Neah under the Collaboration Agreement with Novellus Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:NVLS), a leading manufacturer of semiconductor capital equipment and an investor in Neah. He is a Director of Technology at Novellus. Dr. Drewery specializes in leading rapid development of groundbreaking technologies and has 25 years of experience in the fields of solid-state physics, metals deposition technology, and semiconductor processing. Before coming on board at Neah Power, Dr. Drewery was in charge of advanced metals processing development at Novellus. Before joining Novellus, he invented and developed ground-breaking metal deposition technologies at Tokyo Electron, Ltd. and at Varian Associates. From 1989 to 1995, Dr. Drewery was a Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Dr. Drewery received his Ph.D. in solid state physics from the University of Cambridge (Cavendish Physics Laboratory) in 1986.
Don, his wife Pat, and his two sons moved to Liberty Run two years ago from Kissimmee Florida. Don is currently employed by Novellus Systems and Pat is a part-time florist.

D. James Guzy served as a member of our Board of Directors from June 2000 through May 2005. Since 1969, he has served as President of the Arbor Company, a limited partnership involved in the electronics and computer industry. Mr. Guzy is a director of PLX Technology, Inc., Intel Corporation, Cirrus Logic, Inc., Davis Selected Group of Mutual Funds and Alliance Capital Management Technology Fund. Mr. Guzy received a B.S. from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. from Stanford University. All directors hold office until our next annual meeting of the stockholders and until their successors have been duly elected or qualified. George Kern brings over 28 years of operations and manufacturing experience to Advent Solar Inc. He has held the positions of VP Operations at Monolithic Memories, VP Wafer Operations at AMD, President of Novellus Systems, CEO of I-Cube Inc and Sr VP of Operations for Read-Rite Inc. Most recently he held the position of Director of World Wide Operations for Hitachi Global Storage Technology a leading supplier of hard disk drives. He has been a member of the board of directors of several high technology companies including Novellus Systems, Plasma and Materials Technology, ASET, Domain Technology and I-Cube. George spent over 17 years at Monolithic Memories where he was responsible for constructing and operating wafer fabrication facilities in California, test and assembly facilities in Malaysia and Japan. He was also responsible for wafer process, packaging and test development In his role at Read-Rite, he spent three years in Asia managing high volume factories in Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand with over 9,000 employees, he also managed a wafer fabrication facility in California. At Hitachi, George was responsible for magnetic recording head development and manufacturing facilities in California, Mexico and China. George holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Santa Clara.
