NSTAR is a holding company engaged through its subsidiaries in the energy delivery business serving about 1.4 million customers in Massachusetts, including about 1.1 million electric distribution customers in 81 areas and around 300,000 natural gas customers in 51 areas. As of Dec 31 2007, Co.'s reportable segments are the electric and natural gas utility operations. At Dec 31 2007, the gas system of Co.'s NSTAR Gas Company subsidiary included about 3,080 miles of gas distribution lines, approximately 186,100 services and approximately 286,700 customer meters together with measuring and regulating equipment.
