Ryuji Yamada President and CEO Ryuji Yamada assumed the posts of NTT DOCOMO INC. President and CEO in June 2008 after an accomplished 35-year career with both NTT DOCOMO and its parent company, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT). Since joining NTT DOCOMO as a Senior Executive Vice President, a Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Corporate Marketing Division in June 2007, Mr. Yamada has contributed greatly to the growth and advancement of the mobile market for corporate customers. From June 2004, prior to joining NTT DOCOMO, he was a Senior Executive Vice President for NTT, where he oversaw its world-class research center and exercised decisive leadership in developing the company’s Next Generation Network (NGN). From July 1999 to June 2004 he held various top managerial positions at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (NTT West), a regional fixedtelecommunications carrier in western Japan, where he played a key role in making the company profitable just three years after NTT’s reorganization in 1999. In 1994 Mr. Yamada took the lead in drawing up NTT’s “Basic Concept and Current Activities for the Coming Multimedia Age,” the strategic plan for the company’s transition from voice services to a wide range of advanced IP services for the Internet age, which continues to underpin the NTT group’s long-term vision. Over the years he was also a central figure in planning NTT’s 1.7-trillion-yen network of nationwide facilities. Mr. Yamada started his career at NTT Public Corporation in April 1973 as a network engineer after graduating from Osaka University’s Graduate School of Engineering with a master’s degree in telecommunication engineering. Known for his athletic ability, he enjoys golf, tennis and skiing in his free time. He was born on May 5, 1948.

Hiroshi Matsui was named Senior Executive Vice President responsible for CSR and Branches in Kanto and Koshinetsu areas and a Member of the Board of Directors of NTT DOCOMO INC. in July 2008. Prior to joining NTT DOCOMO as an Advisor in September 2007, he was president of both the ITU Association of Japan and the Nippon Information Communications Association. Mr. Matsui spent most of his career with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication (MPT), which was folded into the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (MIC) in 2001. At the MIC and MPT, he held a number of important posts, including Director-General of the Postal Services Agency from 2002. He retired from MIC as Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination in 2005. Mr. Matsui entered the MPT in 1969 after graduating from the University of Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in law. He was born on August 6, 1946.

Kaoru Kato was named an Executive Vice President, a Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Corporate Strategy & Planning Department of NTT DOCOMO INC. in June 2008. Mr. Kato held several key positions at NTT DoCoMo Kansai, Inc. (DoCoMo Kansai), where he became an Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors in June 2007 and added the title of Managing Director of the Corporate Strategy Planning Department in the following month. He became a Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Corporate Strategy Planning Department of DoCoMo Kansai in August 2002. From July 2005 to May 2007, he also served as a Representative Director and a Senior Corporate Executive Officer of Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co., Ltd., a company in which NTT DOCOMO acquired a 34% share in 2005 to develop its mobile credit-payment services. Mr. Kato entered NTT Public Corporation in 1977 after graduating from Nagoya Institute of Technology with a master’s degree in electronic engineering. He was born on May 20, 1951.

Kiyoyuki Tsujimura Senior Executive Vice President and Member of Board of Directors Dr. Kiyoyuki Tsujimura became Senior Executive Vice President responsible for Multimedia Services and Technology at NTT DOCOMO INC. in July 2008. He was named Managing Director of the Products & Services Division in June 2005 while continuing to serve as an Executive Vice President since June 2004. Dr. Tsujimura became Managing Director of the Corporate Strategy & Planning Department in June 2002. In June 2001 he was named a Senior Vice President and a Member of the Board of Directors while continuing to serve as Managing Director of the Global Business Department since January 1999. He joined NTT DOCOMO in its founding year, 1992, and contributed to the company’s startup as a key member of the Corporate Strategy & Planning Department. Dr. Tsujimura entered NTT Public Corporation in April 1975, after graduating from the Tokyo Institute of Technology Graduate School of Science and Engineering with a master’s degree in physical electronics. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in June 1987, and a doctorate in social engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in March 2007. He was born in Osaka on January 11, 1950.

Kiyoyuki Tsujimura Senior Executive Vice President and Member of Board of Directors Dr. Kiyoyuki Tsujimura became Senior Executive Vice President responsible for Multimedia Services and Technology at NTT DOCOMO INC. in July 2008. He was named Managing Director of the Products & Services Division in June 2005 while continuing to serve as an Executive Vice President since June 2004. Dr. Tsujimura became Managing Director of the Corporate Strategy & Planning Department in June 2002. In June 2001 he was named a Senior Vice President and a Member of the Board of Directors while continuing to serve as Managing Director of the Global Business Department since January 1999. Mitsunobu Komori Executive Vice President, Chief Technical Officer, Member of Board of Directors, and Managing Director of R&D Center Mitsunobu Komori was named an Executive Vice President, Chief Technical Officer, a Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the R&D Center of NTT DOCOMO INC. in July 2008. He was General Manager of the Kanagawa Branch from July 2007, before which he was appointed a Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Core Network Engineering Department, Network Division in 2005. For Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Co., NTT DOCOMO’s parent company, Mr. Komori was Senior Manager of Department V (human resources and general affairs) twice, first from January 1999 to June 2000 and then from July 2002 to May 2005, between which he served as General Manager of NTT East’s Nagano Branch from July 2000 to June 2002. Mr. Komori entered NTT Public Corporation in 1977 after graduating from Kyoto University Graduate School of Engineering with a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He was born on September 18, 1952.

Harunari Futatsugi Executive Vice President and Member of Board of Directors Harunari Futatsugi was named Executive Vice President responsible for Network at NTT DOCOMO INC. in July 2008. Mr. Futatsugi became Managing Director of the Network Division in June 2007, while continuing to serve as an Executive Vice President since June 2006. He was named a Senior Vice President in 2005, after serving as Managing Director of the Human Resources Management Department from June 2004. He became a Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Network Planning Department in June 2003. Mr. Futatsugi became General Manager of the Saitama Branch in June 2001, following a posting as Senior Director of the Corporate Strategy & Planning Department from January 1999. He entered NTT Public Corporation in April 1976 after graduating from Nagoya University’s Graduate School of Engineering with a master’s degree in engineering. Mr. Futatsugi was born on November 23, 1951.

Kazuto Tsubouchi Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Member of Board of Directors, and Managing Director of Accounts and Finance Department Kazuto Tsubouchi became NTT DOCOMO INC. Executive Vice President responsible for Business Alliance and Chief Financial Officer in July 2008, while also retaining his positions as a Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Accounts and Financial Department since June 2006. Mr. Tsubouchi became a Senior Vice President of NTT DOCOMO in June 2006, bringing with him extensive financial experience gained as a Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Accounts and Finance Department at NTT DoCoMo Kansai, Inc. from June 2004. Prior to his tenure in the NTT DOCOMO group, he served as General Manager of the Kanazawa Branch of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (NTT West), a regional fixed-telecommunications carrier in western Japan, from December 2000. Mr. Tsubouchi was Senior Manager of Department IV (finance and accounting) of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, NTT DOCOMO’s parent company, from July 1999. He served as Senior Manager of Department V (human resources and general affairs) of NTT Holding Provisional Headquarters from January 1999, and was Senior Manager of the General Affairs Department of NTT Corp. from June 1998. Mr. Tsubouchi entered NTT Public Corporation in April 1976 after graduating from the University of Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in law. He was born on May 2, 1952.

Masatoshi Suzuki Senior Executive Vice President and Member of Board of Directors Masatoshi Suzuki was named Senior Executive President responsible for Global Business and Corporate of NTT DOCOMO INC. in July 2008. Mr. Suzuki became an Executive Vice President, a Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Human Resources Management Department in June 2007. He was named a Senior Vice President in June 2005 while continuing to serve as Managing Director of the Public Relations Department since 2004. He also was a Member of the Board of Directors from June 2004 to May 2005. Before joining NTT DOCOMO, Mr. Suzuki served as General Manager of the Miyagi Branch of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East), a regional fixed-telecommunications carrier in eastern Japan, from July 2002. In July 1999 he became Senior Director of the Corporate Planning Department of NTT East. Prior to his time with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation from July 1994 to June 1999, he helped to guide NTT DOCOMO in its early years as Senior Director of Corporate Planning Department from April 1992. Mr. Suzuki entered NTT Public Corporation in 1975 after graduating from Tohoku University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He was born on October 30, 1951.

Katsuhiro Nakamura was named a Senior Vice President, a Member of the Board of Directors, and Managing Director of both the General Affairs and Corporate Citizenship departments of NTT DOCOMO INC. in July 2008. Prior to this he was a Senior Vice President responsible for business process reform from June 2007. Mr. Nakamura joined NTT DoCoMo Hokkaido, Inc. as a Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Marketing Division in June 2004, and then became a Representative Director and Managing Director of the Corporate & Strategy Planning Department in June 2005. He was General Manager of NTT DOCOMO's Shibuya Branch from June 2003, prior to which he was Managing Director of the Affiliated Companies Department since 2001. He joined NTT DOCOMO as Senior Director of the Corporate Strategy & Planning Department in April 2000, following a long tenure with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, NTT DOCOMO’s parent company. Mr. Nakamura entered NTT Public Corporation in 1977 after graduating from the University of Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in law. He was born on March 2, 1953.

Takashi Tanaka was named Managing Director of the Human Resources Management Department of NTT DOCOMO INC. in June 2008 while retaining his position as a Senior Vice President and a Member of the Board of Directors since June 2007. Mr. Tanaka was a Senior Vice President, Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the General Affairs Department from June 2007 to June 2008. He became Managing Director of the Affiliated Companies Department in June 2003 after serving as Senior Director of the Human Resources Management Department from July 2001. Prior to this, Mr. Tanaka was Managing Director of the Corporate & Planning Department of NTT DoCoMo Chugoku from July 1999 to June 2001. Mr. Tanaka entered NTT Public Corporation in 1979, after graduating from Waseda University with a bachelor’s degree in political science/economics. He was born on June 2, 1955.

Yoshiyuki Takeda is Senior Vice President of NTT DOCOMO, Inc. and Deputy Managing Director of its R&D Center. Mr. Takeda is primarily engaged in areas including the standardization of facsimile, the development of a satellite broadcasting system, R&D policy in the ICT field, the digitalization of broadcasting, and u-Japan policy. In addition to his present post, Mr. Takeda is also an adviser to the Telecommunication Technology Committee as well as a Visiting Professor at Waseda University’s Graduate School of Global Information and Telecommunication Studies. Prior to joining NTT DOCOMO, Inc., Mr. Takeda served as Chairman of Mobile Radio Center, Vice President of the Telecommunication Technology Committee, and held several Director-General positions within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

Masao Nakamura Corporate Advisor and Member of Board of Directors Masao Nakamura became a Corporate Advisor and retained his position as a Member of the Board of Directors of NTT DOCOMO in June 2008, after serving as President and CEO since June 2004. In his four years at the helm, highlighting a distinguished 35-year career with both NTT DOCOMO and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), Mr. Nakamura significantly strengthened the company in a fast-changing market. He was responsible for establishing mobile phones as indispensable tools for everyday life through the introduction of innovative new services, including “Osaifu-Keitai” mobile wallet services. In addition, he led the company’s rebranding initiatives as the Managing Director of the Corporate Branding Division from August 2007. From June 2002 until June 2004 he served as Senior Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Marketing Division, after serving as an Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Mobile Multimedia Division from June 2001. Mr. Nakamura became an Executive Vice President in 1999. He entered NTT DOCOMO in 1998 as a Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Accounts and Finance Department, holding the latter position until 2001. Before joining NTT DOCOMO he held several important posts at NTT Corporation, including Managing Director of Industrial Relations. He began his career at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation in July 1969. Mr. Nakamura graduated from the University of Tokyo with a bachelor's degree in law in 1969. He was born on November 11, 1944 and grew up in Tokyo.

Nobuharu Ono is currently the President & CEO of NTT DoCoMo USA, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary established in November 1999 of Japan s NTT DoCoMo Inc. After graduating from Nagoya University with a bachelor degree in Engineering in 1968, Mr. Ono began his career at NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation), the largest telecommunication carrier in Japan. He held a variety of executive positions relating to the field of transmission during his early years at NTT. In 1989, he became Senior Vice President of NTT America responsible for the operation of the Pacific and Western Divisions. In 1994, he served as Executive Manager of the Multimedia Business Department in charge of strategic business planning. He was promoted to Vice President, Executive Manager of the Multimedia Business Department in 1995. He was elected to NTT s Board of Directors in June 1998 and transferred to NTT-East in 1999 in accordance with NTT s reorganization. In July 2000, Mr. Ono moved to NTT DoCoMo, Inc., the mobile arm of NTT, which was spun off from its parent company in 1992. At that time, acting as both a Senior Vice President and Board member, he headed the Mobile Multimedia Division, which promotes multimedia communication and services through DoCoMo s wireless network. In July 2001, Mr. Ono became President & CEO of NTT DoCoMo USA, Inc., and at the same time was appointed to the Board of Directors of AT&T Wireless, a strategic U.S. partner for NTT DoCoMo. He continues as a Board member at NTT DoCoMo (Japan), and acts as Deputy Head of its Global Business Division.
