Jeff is NxStage’s Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer, and is a member of its Board of Directors. Jeff has over 20 years of in-depth management experience with companies developing, marketing and manufacturing products for End Stage Renal Disease patients. He has led NxStage since its inception, guiding it through all of its developmental phases to the successful initiation of commercial activity, its initial public offering and the recent acquisition of Medisystems. Prior to founding NxStage, he co-founded Vasca, Inc., a company providing innovative implantable access devices, where he was the President and CEO, as well as Chairman of the Board. He gained significant renal industry experience during his nine years at Gambro, Inc., in the Renal Division, with his last position as Director of Marketing and Advanced Technologies. During his career he has been an inventor on 50 U.S. patents for medical devices. Jeff received his BS in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University.

Robert Brown, CEO, founded Monroe Management Company, now known as Treystar, in 1969. Since 1982 the company has concentrated in real estate development and management. Bob is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and received his Master's Degree in Finance from Harvard. Bob Brown is President of Arcadia Capital, LLC and has incorporated or assisted entrepreneurs in more than forty companies in Southwest Michigan. He has provided high-risk venture capital to nurture new ideas and assist the existing Monroe-Brown Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to furthering higher education. He is a board member for Southwest Michigan First and Fabri-Kal Corporation. Bob is an adventure traveler enjoying the outdoors and athletic activities including: downhill skiing, tennis, basketball, white water rafting, trekking and bird hunting.

Mike has more than 19 years’ experience in quality assurance, regulatory, manufacturing, operations, engineering, development, and supplier management, primarily in the field of medical devices. Prior to joining NxStage in 2001, Mike was Vice President of Operations for Mosaic Technologies, a developer of gene-based diagnostic products. Other previous positions include Director of Operations for TFX Medical and Director of Disposables Manufacturing and Logistics for Haemonetics Corporation. Mike received a BS degree in Industrial and Management Engineering and his MBA in Manufacturing Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

As Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, Tom is responsible for all of NxStage’s manufacturing operations, including the Company’s four manufacturing facilities. Tom has over 20 years of operational management experience. Prior to joining NxStage, he held several leadership positions at Jabil Incorporated, a $12 billion Tier I contract manufacturer. Most recently, Tom served as Jabil’s Global Business Unit Manager, supporting clients in the aerospace, defense and telecommunications industries. In this capacity, he developed and implemented global operations, logistics and pricing strategies for his sector. He previously served as Operations Manager at Jabil where he had full plant profit and loss responsibility for their Massachusetts facility. Mr. Shea earned his M.B.A. at The University of Massachusetts and his B.S. in Production and Operations Management at Bryant University.

Matt has 23 years of sales management and leadership experience, including 15 years with Baxter Healthcare Corporation during the rapid growth period of peritoneal dialysis. His most recent position was Area Vice President in the renal sales organization. Prior to joining NxStage in January 2002, Matt was Co-Founder of WingSpeed, L.L.C. an Internet technology and services company. Matt also held the position of General Manager, Vice President Marketing and Business Development at VistaCare Hospice.

Craig has held a number of executive positions in the healthcare industry, including Chairman of the Board and CEO at Everest Healthcare Services Corporation prior to its acquisition by Fresenius Medical Care, Executive Vice President at Everest Healthcare, Division President of American Micro-Surgery Specialties at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, and Director for Biologic Systems Corporation.

Jean-Francois Formela, M.D., is a Senior Partner in the life sciences sector for Atlas Venture, a venture capital firm, and has served as a member of our board of directors since June 1999. Prior to joining Atlas Venture in 1993, Dr. Formela was Senior Director, Medical Marketing and Scientific Affairs at Schering-Plough Corporation in the United States. During his tenure at Schering-Plough, he was responsible for the marketing of Intron A, Schering-Plough s alpha-interferon. In his last position at Schering-Plough, he directed the U.S. Phase IV studies in all therapeutic areas, as well as the health economics, medical information, and biotechnology pre-marketing groups. As a medical doctor, Dr. Formela practiced emergency medicine at Necker University hospital in Paris. Since joining Atlas Venture, he has been involved in the formation of companies such as ArQule, Inc., MorphoSys, Exelixis, Inc., deCODE genetics, Inc., Nuvelo, Inc., Cellzome AG, Archemix Corp. and Aureon Biosciences Corporation. Dr. Formela currently serves as a director of Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Arca Discovery, Inc. Cellzome Inc., Compound Therapeutics, NxStage Medical, Inc. and Resolvyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He holds an M.D. degree from the Paris University School of Medicine and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

Mr. Phildius has been Chairman of the Company's Board of Directors since October 1990 and Chief Executive Officer since July 1996. He has been a general partner in Phildius, Kenyon & Scott ("PK&S") since the firm's founding in 1985. Prior to 1985, Mr. Phildius was an independent consultant and Chairman and co-founder of Nutritional Management, Inc., a company that operates weight loss clinics (1983 - 1985), President and Chief Operating Officer of Delmed, Inc., a medical products company (1982 - 1983), President and Chief Operating Officer of National Medical Care, Inc., a dialysis and medical products company (1979 - 1981), and held a variety of senior management positions with Baxter Laboratories Inc. ("Baxter"), a hospital supply company and the predecessor of Baxter Healthcare Corporation. During the last eight years of his 18 year career at Baxter (1961 - 1979), Mr. Phildius was Group Vice President and President of the Parenteral Division, President of the Artificial Organs Division and President of the Fenwal Division.
