Gazprom makes sure Russia and the world are warmed. OAO Gazprom (Russian: GAZP) was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Moscow, Russia. The company controls 25% of the world's gas reserves, produces 94% of Russia's natural gas reserves, and is responsible for 8% of the country's GDP. Its core activities are gas exploration, production, transportation, processing and marketing. It has produced over 5.9 bcm of gas and 93.6 million tons of oil and gas condensate. The company has annual revenue of about $36 billion and employs about 333,000 people.

Alexander Medvedev is the Deputy Chairman of OAO Gazprom. Also, Medvedev is General Director of Gazprom Export LLC overseeing Gazprom's business in both the CIS and in Europe. This included developing and implementing current and potential gas-based energy investment projects and marketing gas in new countries. Medvedev has a wealth of experience across the financial sector, having worked as a Director of IMAG Investment Management & Advisory Group GmbH in Austria (1991-1996 and 1998-2002). Between 1997 and 1998, Medvedev was Vice-President of Eastern Oil Company, in Moscow. Earlier financial posts include Director of Donau-Bank AG. Medvedev started his career as a researcher in the Institute of World Economy and International Relations at the USSR Academy of Sciences. Originally from Shakhtersk, in the Sakhalin region, he graduated from the Moscow Physics and Technology Institute in 1978 and holds a PhD in Economics. In 2001, he was appointed an Acting Member of the International Academy of Investments and Construction Economics.
