Lars Kongsbak joined Exiqon in 2000 as head of the EURAY division, later of R&D and finally was in charge of Business Development, before he was appointed as CEO in 2003. Before joining Exiqon, Lars Kongsbak served as Senior Scientist with Novozymes, Novo Nordisk and Bioimage, respectively. For several years, Lars Kongsbak was a Post Doc in the United States, Australia and Denmark. Lars Kongsbak is the inventor of several patents and the author of more than 40 scientific publications. Lars earned his M.Sc. in Biology from the University of Copenhagen (1988) and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Technical University of Denmark (1990).

Erik Holmlin joined Exiqon in July 2008 from BD Diagnostics, GeneOhm, where he held a number of executive positions within marketing, technology and strategy. Erik was one of the founders of GeneOhm which he formed in 2001 and sold to BD Diagnostics in 2006. Erik earned his Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena and held a postdoctoral position at Harvard University. Erik also holds an MBA degree from UC Berkeley.

Hans Henrik Chrois Christensen joined Exiqon as CFO in January 2007 from a corresponding position with Pharmexa A/S. Hans Henrik Chrois Christensen has a background as a group general counsel with Danisco A/S (1998-2002) where he completed an in-house management training programme, and as an attorney at-law with the law firm Dragsted & Helmer Nielsen (now Bech-Bruun), Copenhagen. Hans Henrik earned his Master of Laws from the University of Copenhagen (1990) and became an authorized attorney-at-law in 1993 with a right to appear before the Danish High Court.

William Ricketts, Ph.D. is the Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer and is responsible for research, new product validation, pharmaceutical alliances and the continued development of molecular technology strategies. Dr. Ricketts received his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego and a B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia. Prior to joining Oncotech Dr. Ricketts worked at Valeant Pharmaceuticals identifying and characterizing novel therapeutics for treating cancer as the project manager for a small molecule kinase inhibitor discovery program. In this role, he was involved in assay development, drug screening, SAR studies, PK studies, clinical trial development and market analysis for potential indications. Dr. Ricketts has been involved in kinase research for twenty years and has performed and published research on the role of adaptor proteins in signal transduction, kinase biology, cell cycle checkpoint controls, and glutathione metabolism.

Eugene Mechetner, Ph.D., joined Oncotech as Senior Director of Scientific, Clinical, and New Product Development. His general research interests are focused on the areas of experimental and clinical oncology, imaging, biotechnology, and immunology, with a specific emphasis on multiple drug resistance in normal and tumor cells and new methods of biomarker detection using monoclonal antibodies. Dr. Mechetner has authored over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications and several US and international patents. He has over 12 years of extensive experience in a variety of industries, including biotechnology, drug development, bioreagents, and clinical laboratory testing. In addition to his responsibilities at Oncotech, Dr. Mechetner holds a position of Adjunct Associate Professor with the College of Medicine, University of California Irvine.

Mai Gu is the Medical Director and a board-certified pathologist in both Anatomical/Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology. She received her M.D. from Beijing University School of Medicine and her Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Therapeutics from the University of Manitoba, Canada. Dr. Gu completed her residency training in Pathology from the Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York and her fellowship training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Oncologic Pathology and Cytopathology. Prior to Oncotech, Dr. Gu served as an Associate Professor of Clinical Pathology in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of California Irvine Medical Center. She has published studies involving the pathologic diagnosis of cancers of various organs, such as pancreas, liver, gastrointestinal tract, gynecologic systems, and head and neck. Dr. Gu is an active member of the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology, American Society of Cytopathology and International Academy of Cytology. She currently has an appointment as the Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of California Irvine.

Owner, David W. Smith, is an Agricultural Engineering graduate from Texas A&M University. For more than 8 years, David served as Landscape Irrigation Specialist for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service (TAEX), and was an instructor for the TAMU School of Irrigation.

Dr. Sheibani is a board-certified pathologist in the fields of immunopathology, clinical pathology and anatomic pathology. He completed his fellowship and pathology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and has served as Pathologist, Director of Hematopathology and Director of the Hematopathology Fellowship Training Program at the City of Hope National Medical Center. He currently holds an academic position as Clinical Professor of Pathology at the Department of Pathology, University of Southern California. Dr. Sheibani is also a pathologist at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, California. A well-published and noted physician, he has authored and co-authored over 180 scientific publications, book chapters, monographs, and editorials.

B. ALLEN LAY has been a director of ViaSat since 1996. From 1983 to 2001, he was a General Partner of Southern California Ventures, a venture capital company. From 2001 to the present he has acted as a consultant to the venture capital industry. Mr. Lay is currently a director of Physical Optics Corporation, a privately-held optical systems company; Oncotech, Inc., a privately-held medical diagnostic company; NPI, LLC, a privately-held developer and supplier of proprietary and patentable ingredients for dietary supplements; Luminit, LLC, a privately-held light shaping film company; and Canley Lamps, LLC, a privately-held manufacturer of specialty light bulbs.
