Dr. Perelman has served as a member of Immusol's Board of Directors since 1996. Dr. Perelman began his career in 1957 as an organic chemist and held a number of positions at Eli Lilly & Co. (Lilly), including serving as President of Lilly International. From 1986 until his retirement in 1993, Dr. Perelman served as Executive Vice President of Lilly and President of Lilly Research Laboratories. He was a member of the Lilly Board of Directors and its Executive Committee from 1976 to 1993. Robert E. Knowling, Jr. is CEO of the Leadership Academy, City of New York Department of Education, and he serves as chairman of the board of The Immune Response Corporation. Previously, he was chairman and CEO of SimDesk Technologies, Inc. (formerly Internet Access Technologies, Inc.). Mr. Knowling began his career in 1977 at Indiana Bell and progressed rapidly through assignments in operations, engineering and marketing. He was assigned to Ameritech's re-engineering breakthrough development team in 1992 and was named vice president of Network Operations for Ameritech in 1994. Mr. Knowling joined U S WEST in 1996 as vice president of Network Operations. In 1997 he was named executive vice president of Operations and Technologies, responsible for a 30,000-member team in charge of planning, delivering and maintaining high-quality telecommunications services. In 1998, he joined Covad Communications as chairman, president and CEO. In recognition for his spirit and mission of inclusion, opportunity, expansion, advocacy and success in the workplace, he was awarded the Wall Street Project's Reginald Lewis Trailblazers Award by President Clinton and the Rev. Jesse Jackson in 1999. He serves on the board of directors for HP and Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc. He is on the advisory boards for Ontologent, Inc.; Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management; and the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business. Mr. Knowling received a BA in theology from Wabash College and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Business.
