Order of the Sons of Hermann in Texas

Grand Vice President - Marketing. Mr. Preuss' primary responsibility is the development, implementation, and supervision of the corporate sales strategy of financial products. In this role, Mr. Preuss directs and oversees the productivity and sales efforts of approximately 150 agents in all Texas sales territories. A member of Hermann Sons since 1960 and a Grand Lodge employee since 1981, Mr. Preuss most recently served as Executive Director of the Hermann Sons Youth Camp. As Executive Director, he has developed staff training programs including the Counselor in Training program and a recognized risk management program. He has also served as Past President of Comfort Lodge and is currently a member. Mr. Preuss is a Past President of the Texas Fraternal Congress and the Texas Section of the American Camp Association. Mr. Preuss received a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration from Southwest Texas State University and is currently an active Fraternal Insurance Counselor.

Grand Vice President - Investments. Mr. Werland's primary responsibilities include overseeing the investment and management of the assets of the Grand Lodge, Sons of Hermann, and the supervision of the corporate accounting and audit functions. Mr. Werland has been a Hermann Sons member since 1990. He has served in various capacities including independent auditor for the Grand Lodge, President of Harmonia Lodge, Treasurer of the San Antonio Hermann Sons Home Association and Treasurer of Hermann's Happiness. Mr. Werland has provided accounting and tax services to a wide spectrum of industry clients including banking, finance, insurance, retail, manufacturing and other service businesses in his role as audit manager for the San Antonio accounting firm of Carneiro, Chumney & Co. Prior to becoming a CPA, Mr. Werland has also worked as in insurance adjuster for numerous insurance companies. Other special accounting experience includes providing expert jury testimony, claim settlements, and bank conversions for the Resolution Trust Corportation. Community and professional activities include Past Director and Secretary of the San Antonio Chapter of CPAs and Past Chairman of the Co-Operation with the Insurance Industry Committee of the San Antonio Chapter of CPAs (where he was honored as committee chairman of the year), member of the Peer Review Committee of the Texas Society of CPAs, Past President and Director of the Palmer Drug Abuse Program in San Antonio, and Past Treasurer and Director of the Optimist Club of San Antonio. Mr. Werland graduated from St. Mary's University with concentrations in Accounting, Computer Science and Mathematics. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1978 and served in the Air Force Reserve.

Mr. Prewitt was elected Grand President/CEO by the delegates to the 45th Grand Lodge Convention in Corpus Christi May 3-6, 2009. He has been a member of Hermann Sons since 1975, serving first as Special Representative and later as Financial Secretary/Lodge Agent for Harmonia Lodge No. 1. Before his election as Grand President, he was member of the Grand Committee for twenty eight years, the last twelve as Grand Vice President-Investments with the primary responsibility of investing the assets of the Grand Lodge. After receiving his BBA from St. Mary's University of San Antonio, Mr. Prewitt was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and served with the First Calvary Division from 1972 to 1974. He also served two years in the Texas Army National Guard.
