Deborah Dempesy obtained her training in audiology at Northwestern University in Evanston IL, and graduated with a Masters Degree in Audiology in 1982. She has 24 years experience as a clinical audiologist. Dr. Dempesy completed her clinical doctorate in audiology (AuD) through the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Audiology in December 2007. She practiced initially as an audiologist in Chicago IL and for the last 25 years in Boston. Boston work experience includes: Director of Audiology at Beth Israel Deaconess hospital for many years, 6 years of consulting work performing hearing aid clinical research, serving on the Task Force for Infant Hearing Screening for the state of Massachusetts, assisting several Boston hospitals setting up Infant Hearing screening programs, establishing her own private practice in audiology for 7 years on Boston's North Shore. She also worked a clinical audiologist with HearUSA. She is currently employed by Oticon, Inc. as a regional manager for Northern New England. Dr. Dempesy's interest is primarily aural rehabilitative audiology, especially working with hearing aids, assistive listening devices and technology that helps the hearing impaired communicate and cope in our very auditory world. She herself lost her hearing 15 years ago due to Meniere's disease and wears hearing aids. She is personally aware of the limitations hearing loss can create when working and socializing and is committed to helping others achieve the best possible hearing ability they can through modern technology. Dr. Dempesy is a member of the American Academy of Audiology, American Speech Language Hearing Association and has her Clinical Certificate of Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) , The Massachusetts Educational Audiology Association and licensed by the State of Massachusetts to practice Audiology.
