F. Philip Handy, 64, CEO of Strategic Industries, a worldwide diversified service and manufacturing company, since 2001. Director since 2006. From 1968 to 1970, Mr. Handy worked at Fidelity Management and Research. He then joined Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette where he served as Vice President from 1970 to 1976. In 1976, he became the CEO of Combanks, a multiple bank holding company based in Orlando, Florida. In 1980, he commenced his career in the private equity business. From 1996 through 1999, Mr. Handy was managing director of Equity Group Corporate Investments, a private investment firm controlled by Sam Zell. Mr. Handy currently serves on the public Board of Directors of Anixter International, Inc., Rewards Network, Inc. and Study Group International. In January 2008, he was re-appointed by President George W. Karel K. Czanderna is group president of building materials at Owens Corning, a world leader in building materials and composite systems and solutions. Ms. Czanderna is responsible for the company’s insulation, roofing and asphalt, and other building materials and services businesses. Ms. Czanderna has held leadership roles in high tech and consumer industries for more than 20 years, driving strategic growth through acquisitions and transforming markets by developing innovative, integrated solutions that benefit every partner in the value chain. Before joining Owens Corning in 2008, Ms. Czanderna held various executive management positions. Duncan Palmer is the chief financial officer of Owens Corning, a world leader in building materials and composite systems and solutions. Mr. Palmer was appointed to his current role in September 2007. Prior to joining Owens Corning, Mr. Palmer spent 20 years with Royal Dutch Shell, most recently as vice-president, upstream commercial finance for Shell International Exploration and Production BV, based in the Netherlands. John Hillenbrand is the vice president and chief innovation officer of Owens Corning, a world leader in building materials and composite systems and solutions. Mr. Hillenbrand leads the global Science and Technology organization in developing new innovations that deliver differential value to Owens Corning’s customers. Prior to joining Owens Corning, Mr. Hillenbrand spent 23 years with DuPont, most recently as vice president, innovation and technology for DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, based in Wilmington, Del., United States. In this role, he was responsible for all global technical activities in DuPont’s Ethylene Copolymers, Glass Laminating Solutions, and Intermediates business units.In addition to driving targeted growth programs in packaging, specialty additives and modifiers, and high performance glass interlayers, the organization expanded its global application development footprint under his leadership with new facilities in China and Brazil. Mr. Hillenbrand also led DuPont Ventures, a business unit that sought out and partnered with entrepreneurial companies to create growth opportunities for them and DuPont. In this capacity, he and his team developed and executed a new model to broadly enable open innovation. Over the course of his DuPont career, Mr. Hillenbrand worked in a variety of global business, technology, and operations roles in Delaware, Texas and Virginia. Peter Van N. Lockwood is resident in Caplin & Drysdale's Washington, D.C. office. He joined the firm as an associate in 1968 and became a member in 1972. Prior to that, he served as a law clerk to Justice Thurgood Marshall of the United States Supreme Court from 1967-1968 and to Chief Judge Bailey Aldrich of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit from 1966-1967. Mr. Lockwood is the head of the firm's corporate practice and a senior member of the firm's civil litigation group. His corporate practice involves a variety of business transactions including mergers and acquisitions, securities registration and advice, contract negotiating and drafting, and general corporate counseling. In his litigation practice, Mr. Lockwood has handled a wide range of civil litigation representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He has served as class counsel in one of the most protracted securities fraud cases of this century, Anixter v. Home-Stake Production Co., (1973-1996), and also has represented corporate officers and directors in class-action securities law and derivative suits. Mr. Lockwood also has defended civil RICO and lawyer and accountant malpractice cases. Over the past ten years, working with Elihu Inselbuch in the firm's New York office, Mr. Lockwood has devoted an increasing percentage of his time to the representation of asbestos claimants in mass tort bankruptcies and class actions. He is currently actively involved in the pending reorganization proceedings of Babcock & Wilcox, Pittsburgh Corning, Owens Corning, Armstrong World Industries, Burns & Roe, G-I Holdings, W.R. Grace, U.S. Gypsum, Federal-Mogul, NARCO, Harbison-Walker, A.P. Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Dr. Carlson has more than 12 years of senior research and development management experience with two Fortune 200 industry leaders, Owens Corning Fiberglas and the USG Corporation. His areas of specific expertise include building systems, product development and building physics technology. Successful product commercializations have included stressed skin construction panels, fire stop and barrier systems, residential and commercial thermal insulation products, gypsum based wallboard systems, and exterior cladding systems. Dr. Carlson has applied research and experimental experience in large scale fire testing, structural testing, building thermal envelope analysis and building acoustics. His experience also includes safety program development and implementation both in the field and the workplace environment. Since joining Packer Engineering in 1990, Dr. Carlson has conducted cause and origin investigations, including the 1999 Texas A&M bonfire collapse, a cooling water line collapse during power plant construction, damage to more than100 homes and hotel properties as a result of Hurricane Andrew and Iniki, a high-rise building curtain wall system failure and Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS) investigations. Dr. Carlson has conducted safety program reviews for a national government laboratory. Dr. Carlson39 earlier experience in firearms manufacturing, coupled with over 30 years of safe firearm use, provides Packer Engineering with additional expertise in this area.
