Bill is a Petroleum Engineer with 35 years of oil and natural gas industry experience, including 15 years with Penn West. He received his engineering diploma from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1973 and a bachelor degree in engineering from Nova Scotia Technical College in 1975. Bill joined Penn West in 1992 as founding member of the team that lead the company from a very small, non-viable junior producer to one of Canada’s largest senior oil and natural gas exploration and production companies then to North America’s largest energy income trusts. He was named President of Penn West in 1995. Bill is a former Governor of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, Director of the Canadian Wind Institute and is the Chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island.
"Murray is a Professional Geologist with 29 years of growth oriented oil and natural gas experience, and brings to Penn West a long history of consistent success as an exploration and operational executive. From 1987 to 1993, he received broad geotechnical exposure, including international oil and natural gas portfolio management, as Chief Geologist at Unocal. From 1993 to 2002, Murray held a series of management positions at Rio Alto Exploration Ltd. including Executive Vice President of Exploration and Development and Chief Operating Officer. Since 2003, he has been instrumental in the formation and management of several successful public and private oil and gas companies. Murray was a member of the Board of Directors of Penn West from 2005 until January 2008.

"Dave is a Professional Engineer with more than 25 years of oil and natural gas industry experience since graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Engineering. He has been with Penn West since 1999 holding the Vice President, then Senior Vice President, Production positions between 2001 and 2005. In 2005, Dave assumed overall day-to-day responsibility for Penn West’s oil and natural gas operations as its Chief Operating Officer until 2008 when he assumed his current position where he will increase Penn West’s strategic focus on the development of enhanced oil recovery programs, including the advancement of its initiatives to increase the recovery of light oil using CO2 miscible flooding, from its preeminent inventory of legacy light oil pools.

"Keith obtained both his Bachelor of Arts and Law Degrees at the University of Alberta. In early 2004, after 13 years of private practice in Calgary, Keith joined Burlington Resources and thereafter ConocoPhillips Canada as a Senior Solicitor, working closely with the Land, Surface and Regulatory Departments of both companies. He joined Penn West in October of 2006 as Vice President responsible for land and legal matters. In 2008 he was promoted to his current position.

(now GLJ Petroleum Consultants Ltd) (""GLJ""), an engineering consulting firm, from 1979 to 2005. Mr. Gilbert served as President and Chief Executive Officer of GLJ from 1994 to 2005. Since 2005, he has been an independent businessman and investor and serves as a director for a number of public and private entities. Mr. Gilbert is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta.

Mr. Allard has focused his career on international finance in the petroleum industry for the past 40 years serving as CEO, CFO and a director of a number of publicly traded and private companies. During the past seven years he served on the board of the Alberta Securities Commission, acting as the sole external trustee and advisor to a mid-sized pension plan and serves as a director and advisor to several companies. From 1981 to 1995, he served as a senior executive officer of Amoco Corporation as well as a director of Amoco Canada, then Canada’s largest natural gas producer.

Jim Smith is the Senior Litigation Partner at the firm and heads up the firm's Construction Law Group. Jim practices in the areas of Commercial and Civil Litigation, including Construction Liens and Construction Contracts, Debtor/Creditor and Security Enforcement and Bankruptcy and Insolvency. Jim attended the University of Toronto as a scholarship student and studied Political Science and History for two years. He advanced to Osgoode Hall Law School and graduated with his LL.B. in 1988. Jim has appeared at all levels of courts and tribunals in Ontario, representing chartered banks and institutions, private corporations and entrepreneurs, as well as athletes and sport franchise owners. Jim has extensive experience negotiating for suppliers in the construction industry. "Mr. Rich's 30+ years of experience in the international oil and gas industry was spent primarily with Amoco Corporation where he was Chairman and President of Amoco Canada Petroleum Company Ltd. He serves as an advisor to Ziff Energy Group and has been a principal of Blackrock Energy Associates, an energy consulting and investment firm, since October 2002. Mr. Rich has lived and worked in Canada, Azerbaijan, Gabon, the U.S. and Trinidad & Tobago, and has had responsibility for the pursuit, capture and operation of upstream projects and opportunities worldwide. Mr. Rich holds an engineering degree and MBA; both from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

"Mr. Brawn has been the President of 738831 Alberta Ltd., a private investment company, since May 30, 2003 and is currently a director of ATB Financial, as well as a member of a number of other private and public boards. From January 2006 to January 2007, Mr. Brawn served served as a dorector and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Canetic Resources Inc., administrator of Canetic Resources Trust (""Canetic""), acquired by Penn West as of January 2008. "Mrs. McClellan brings to Penn West the experience gained over 20 years of distinguished service to the Province of Alberta. Her career history includes a recent appointment as Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the University of Alberta for the Faculties of Agriculture and Rural Economy and the School of Business, holding the offices of Deputy Premier of Alberta from 2001 to 2007, minister of Finance of Alberta from 2004 to 2007 and Chair of the Treasury Board and Vice-Chair of the Agenda and Priorities Committee of the Alberta Assembly. Mrs. McClellan has served a total of six terms as a Member of the Alberta Legislative Assembly representing the constituency of Drumheller-Stettler. Over this time period, she has held numerous other portfolios, including Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations, Minister of Community Development, and Minister of Health. Mrs. McClellan actively serves her community and is particularly passionate about enhancing further education in rural areas. She currently serves as a director for the Alberta Association of Continuing Education and the Canadian Association for Continuing Education.
