In 1990 Leon Black founded Apollo Management, L.P. a global alternative asset manager, with a proven track record of successful private equity, distressed debt and mezzanine investing. The firm manages investment capital on behalf of a group of institutional investors and has approximately $27 billion in assets under management. From 1977 to 1990 Mr. Black worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert Incorporated where he served as Managing Director, head of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group, and co-head of the Corporate Finance Department. He is also a member of The Council on Foreign Relations, The Partnership for New York City and the National Advisory Board of JPMorgan Chase. He graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1973 with a major in Philosophy and History and received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1975.
