Pet Supermarket is headquartered in Sunrise, Florida. Each store offers more than 8,000 pet products at competitive prices. Employees pride themselves on customer service and concern for pets. Their motto is: At Pet Supermarket you can have a healthier pet for less. Pet Supermarket continues to grow and expand, adding stores and markets on an ongoing basis. Pet Supermarket was started in 1973 by Chuck West. Originally, the chain began as a store called Pet Circus. Pet Circus stores were full-line pet stores that offered all types of pets. By 1984, Pet Circus had grown to a chain of nine stores. In 1986, Chuck West noticed the trend of large supply stores beginning to appear, such as Home Depot for hardware, and Office Depot for business supplies. He felt a similar concept would work in the pet supply business. Because of the buying of our company-owned distribution center, we could offer those products at a better value. So, in 1986 the first Pet Supermarket opened in Hollywood, Florida. Pet Supermarket is currently one of the largest, and certainly one of the most successful chains in the country.
