After 10 years as a member of the PetSmart board of directors, Phil Francis joined PetSmart as president and chief executive officer in March 1998, and was named chairman of the board in October 1999. Prior to joining PetSmart, he was president and chief executive officer of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc., a subsidiary of J. Sainsbury plc. From 1988 to July 1991, he was corporate vice president of wholesale for Roundy's Inc., a wholesale grocery distributor. Prior to joining Roundy's, Francis has extensive retail experience in various management positions with Cardinal Health and the Jewel Companies. He is a pet parent to a mixed-breed dog named Bit O'Honey.

In his role, Mr. Khalifa is responsible for all corporate financial activities including accounting and audit, financial planning and analysis, investor relations and treasury. He was most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Apria Healthcare Group, Inc., a provider of home healthcare services through more than 500 branches in 50 states. He previously served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of laboratory equipment manufacturer Beckman Coulter, Inc., and the Chief Financial Officer of the Agricultural Sector of Monsanto, a life sciences company. Mr. Khalifa served as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer for Aetna Health Plans and as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Investor Relations for Aetna, Inc. and received his early financial training at PepsiCo, Inc. where he held a succession of senior financial management and operating positions in both U.S. and international assignments. Mr. Khalifa graduated from Lehigh University with both a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering and a Master of Business Administration in finance. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for PetSmart, Inc., is a member of the University of California at Irvine Corporate Partners Advisory Council and is a member of the Board of Directors of Project Tomorrow.

Rakesh Gangwal, age 54, has been a Director of PetSmart since December 2005. From June 2003 until August 2007, Mr. Gangwal served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Worldspan Technologies Inc., a provider of travel technology and information services to the travel and transportation industry. From 2002 to 2003, he was involved in various personal business endeavors, including private equity projects and consulting projects. From 1998 to 2001, he served as Chief Executive Officer and President of US Airways Group, Inc. and US Airways, Inc., and from 1996 to 1998, Mr. Gangwal was the President and Chief Operating Officer of US Airways Group. On August 11, 2002, US Airways Group, Inc., and its seven domestic subsidiaries, including its principal operating subsidiary, US Airways, Inc., filed voluntary petitions for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. US Airways Group, Inc., and its subsidiaries emerged from bankruptcy protection under a reorganization plan, which became effective on March 31, 2003.
