Dr. Kosecoff is CEO, Prescriptions Solutions (RxS), UnitedHealth Group. She is responsible for United’s PBM, Specialty Pharmacy, and Consumer Health Products. UnitedHealth Group is a diversified health and well-being company, serving approximately 70 million Americans. Dr. Kosecoff joined UnitedHealth Group as part of its acquisition of PacifiCare Health Systems in 2005. At PacifiCare, Dr. Kosecoff served as Executive Vice President with responsibility for its specialty businesses, including its PBM, the Medicare Part D Drug Program, PacifiCare Behavioral Health (PBH), PacifiCare Dental & Vision (PDV), and Women’s Health Solutions. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group-PacifiCare, Dr. Kosecoff was founder, President and Chief Operating Officer of Protocare (now Constella Health Strategies and Radiant Research), a firm whose lines of business included the clinical development of drugs, devices, biopharmaceutical and nutritional products and health services consulting. Dr. Kosecoff was co-founder and Co-CEO of Value Health Sciences (VHS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Value Health, Inc. (NYSE: VHI). VHS was the first company to combine medical sciences and information technology to reengineer the utilization review and approval process, saving payors millions while improving the quality of care. Dr. Kosecoff served as Professor of Medicine and Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she still holds a Research Professorship. In addition to her accomplishments as an entrepreneur, Dr. Kosecoff is a recognized expert in the areas of clinical and health services research, quality of care and technology assessment, disease management, and organization of the health care delivery system. She has published extensively in such journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, and the Annals of Internal Medicine. She has served as a consultant to the World Health Organization’s Global Quality Assessment Programs, on the Institute of Medicine’s Board of Health Care Services, the RAND Graduate School’s Board of Governors, and the Board of Directors for ALARIS (NYSE: AMI) now part of Cardinal Health. Currently, Dr. Kosecoff sits on the board of directors for City of Hope, Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA), Sealed Air Corporation (NYSE: SEE), STERIS Corporation (NYSE: STE), and the Alliance for Aging Research and serves on the Catalyst Western Region Advisory Board. Dr. Kosecoff holds a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), an MS in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, and a doctorate in Research Methods from UCLA.

Larry Renfro joined UnitedHealth Group in January 2009 as an executive vice president and as chief executive officer of Ovations. Renfro was formerly a senior executive officer at Fidelity Investments and a member of the Fidelity Executive Committee, overseeing several of Fidelity’s non-investment business units. He was president and chief executive officer of AARP Services, Inc., before he rejoined Fidelity in 2008. Renfro has also held senior executive positions at NewRiver, Inc.; State Street Bank & Trust; and Allmerica Financial.

Lois Quam became CEO of Ovations in 1998. Fortune Magazine named her as one of the 50 most powerful businesswomen in 2003 and 2004. She joined UnitedHealth Group in 1989 as its Director of Research and Development. In 1993, Quam took an extended leave of absence to serve as senior adviser to the White House Task Force on National Health Care Reform. Most recently, Quam provided expert testimony to the United States Senate Finance Committee regarding strategies to improve the health of chronically and severely ill individuals. She has served on the Board of Editors for the British Medical Journal (BMJ) and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the General George C. Marshall Foundation in Washington.

Stephen Hemsley was named chief executive officer and president, UnitedHealth Group, on Nov. 30, 2006. He had previously served as president and chief operating officer, UnitedHealth Group, and is a member of the company’s board of directors. Hemsley joined the company in June 1997.

William Munsell became president of the Enterprise Services Group in September 2007. Enterprise Services includes OptumHealth, Ingenix and Prescription Solutions. He was appointed executive vice president, UnitedHealth Group, in December 2006. Previously, Munsell held the positions of chief executive officer, Specialized Care Services (now OptumHealth), and chief administrative officer, UnitedHealthcare. He joined UnitedHealth Group in 1997 and brings more than 25 years of experience in operations, finance, treasury, executive management and business processes to the company.

Don Nathan joined UnitedHealth Group as senior vice president, chief communications officer, effective May 28, 2007. He is responsible for all internal and external communications. Nathan was formerly a strategic communications consultant with Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, beginning in 1991, and was a partner at the firm for ten years. Previously, Nathan worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., serving in a number of different Congressional and campaign capacities.

Eric Rangen was elected senior vice president and chief accounting officer in December 2006. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Rangen was executive vice president, chief financial officer and also served as principal accounting officer at Alliant Techsystems.

Mike Mikan was elected executive vice president and chief financial officer, UnitedHealth Group, in November 2006. He was most recently senior vice president, Finance, for the company. Mikan previously served as chief financial officer for UnitedHealthcare and chief financial officer for Specialized Care Services (now OptumHealth). Prior to these positions, Mikan was an executive in the company’s Corporate Development group, which is responsible for merger and acquisition activities.

Dr. Reed Tuckson was appointed executive vice president and chief of Medical Affairs in December 2006. Dr. Tuckson joined UnitedHealth Group in 2000 as senior vice president, Consumer Health and Medical Care Advancement. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Dr. Tuckson worked as senior vice president, Professional Standards, for the American Medical Association (AMA). He also served as president of an academic health science center, and was formerly commissioner of public health for the District of Columbia.

In September 2007, Anthony Welters was named president of the Public and Senior Markets Group, which is made up of Ovations and AmeriChoice. He was appointed executive vice president, UnitedHealth Group, in December 2006. Welters had previously been president, chief executive officer and a founder of AmeriChoice, which was acquired by UnitedHealth Group in 2002. Prior to his role with AmeriChoice, Welters held a number of senior positions in the federal government and in private industry.

David Wichmann, executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group, assumed the position of president of UnitedHealth Group Operations in May 2008. Wichmann previously held positions at UnitedHealth Group as president, UnitedHealthcare; president and chief executive officer, Specialized Care Services (now OptumHealth); and senior vice president, Corporate Development. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group in 1998, Wichmann was a partner with Arthur Andersen.

Gail Boudreaux joined UnitedHealth Group in May 2008 as an executive vice president and as president of UnitedHealthcare. Boudreaux was formerly executive vice president of Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC) and prior to that served as president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, a division of HCSC. Before joining HCSC she held various positions at Aetna, including senior vice president of Aetna Group Insurance and vice president of Customer Service.

Jeannine Rivet was named executive vice president, UnitedHealth Group, in November 2005. She formerly served as chief executive officer and president, Optum (now part of OptumHealth), chief executive officer, Ingenix, and chief executive officer, UnitedHealthcare. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Rivet served as vice president, Group Operations, The Prudential Insurance Company of America.

Lori Sweere was appointed executive vice president, Human Capital, UnitedHealth Group, in May 2007. Previously, Sweere was executive vice president, human resources, for CNA Financial Corporation, in Chicago, Ill. Prior to CNA, Sweere held human resources positions for The St. Paul Companies, St. Paul, Minn., and National Computer Systems in Eden Prairie, Minn.

In January 2009, Simon Stevens was named executive vice president, UnitedHealth Group and president Global Health, with major responsibilities in the areas of health care reform and global health interests. Since late 2006, Stevens has served as chief executive officer, Ovations. His executive experience in health care spans twenty years of service, in hospitals, primary care and as a payer, in the private and public sectors, both in the United States and internationally.

John Penshorn, senior vice president, has managed UnitedHealth Group’s capital markets relationships since December 1998. Previously, Penshorn followed health services equities as a stock analyst at Piper Jaffray.
