David Ireland is an executive vice president at Progress Software Corporation. In this role he is responsible for field operations, marketing, professional services and engineering of the Actional, OpenEdge and Sonic product lines. Ireland joined Progress Software in 1997 as vice president, core products and services, responsible for the development and product management groups that supported the Progress client/server and WebSpeed® product lines. Since 1997, he has held a variety of positions with increasing amounts of responsibility. Soon after joining Progress, Ireland assumed responsibility for worldwide field operations, and in 2000 was appointed president of the OpenEdge product division. Ireland has over 30 years experience in the software industry - spanning mainframe platforms to desktops and has led sales, professional services, technical support and engineering functions for application companies as well as software infrastructure suppliers. Prior to joining Progress Software Corporation, Ireland served as vice president and general manager of PRISM products and services at Marcam Corporation. Ireland holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science from Richmond College, City University of New York.

Norman (Bud) Robertson is the senior vice president, finance and administration, and chief financial officer for Progress Software. He is responsible for all financial operations and investor relations activities for the company, as well as administrative functions including human resources, legal, production and distribution, Information Technology and facilities. Robertson joined Progress Software in May of 1996. For more than 30 years, he has managed the financial direction of various public and private technology companies including M/A-COM, Digital Equipment Corporation and Fisher Scientific Corporation. Robertson holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a master’s degree in management from Boston University.

James D. Freedman is senior vice president and general counsel for Progress Software. In this role, he is responsible for managing a legal department which provides a full range of legal services supporting the company's global operations. Freedman has more than 25 years of corporate legal experience in law firm and inside counsel positions. Freedman originally joined Progress as general counsel in 1992. He was promoted to vice president in 1994 and to senior vice president in 2004. Previously, he served as general counsel of Computer Corporation of America, practiced corporate law with several Boston area law firms, and served as a judge advocate in the United States Air Force. Freedman earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering management from the United States Air Force Academy, and a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. Freedman is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) and the New England Corporate Counsel Association (NECCA). He served on the board of NECCA from 1990 to 2001, and as president from 1994 to 1996.

Jeffrey P. Stamen is senior vice president for corporate development and strategy for Progress Software. In this role, he is responsible for corporate development and product strategies for Progress overall, as well as its operating companies. Stamen has a long and distinguished career in the software industry, which included his role as a board member when Progress Software was founded in the early 1980s. Prior to returning to Progress, he was CEO of Syncra Systems, a leading company in the supply chain collaboration space, and co-founded a company which developed Internet marketing technology. Previously, he was a senior vice president at Oracle Corporation, responsible for Oracle's business intelligence and data warehousing products. Stamen also served as president of IRI Software, a position he assumed after IRI acquired Management Decision Systems where he oversaw the Express OLAP product (the first true "multi dimensional database") as senior vice president of development. Stamen began his career as a database developer, leading a joint MIT-Harvard project where he developed an entity-relationship database for query and analysis. Afterward, he joined Mitrol, Inc., where he headed the development of the MIMS 4GL, an antecedent of the Progress 4GL. Stamen is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Gordon Van Huizen is chief technology officer (CTO) for Progress Software Corporation. He and his team provide senior technical guidance to the product divisions, establish strategic partnerships for the company, lead company-wide standards strategies, and promote technology and product synergies across the company’s product lines. In his previous executive roles as General Manager of the Enterprise Infrastructure Division, vice president of SOA products, and Sonic CTO, he has led the strategy, engineering, and delivery of the Actional, DataXtend, OpenEdge, and Sonic product lines, as well as the company’s technical and market strategies for service-oriented architecture (SOA). Van Huizen provided a driving force in bringing the industry's first enterprise service bus Sonic ESB® to market and establishing the enterprise service bus (ESB) product category within the industry. Prior to Progress Software, Van Huizen served as director of engineering for BEA's flagship WebLogic Server product. Van Huizen has over 26 years of software experience covering a broad range of technologies, including real-time systems, object frameworks, graphical editors, Java application servers and XML. He has been leading the development and design of Internet applications, application servers and middleware since 1996. A popular speaker and authority on SOA, Van Huizen has delivered keynote speeches at numerous conferences and has been published in Network World, Business Integration Journal, Java Developer's Journal and JavaWorld, as well as Professional Java Server Programming, J2EE Edition. InfoWorld magazine also named Van Huizen one of its "2004 InfoWorld CTO 25" for his leadership in integration technology and pioneering vision for the enterprise service bus.

Dr. John Bates is general manager for Progress Software's Apama Division. In this role, Bates is responsible for the management of sales, marketing, products and consulting services. Prior to joining Progress, Bates was the co-founder, president and chief technology officer of Apama, the pioneering Complex Event Processing software vendor acquired by Progress in April 2005. In this role, Bates led Apama’s technology and go-to-market strategy and was co-inventor of the patented technology that is now a key part of the Progress Apama platform. Prior to Apama, Bates was a tenured academic at Cambridge University in the UK where he led research into distributed computing systems. Bates is a respected expert, frequent author and speaker in the areas of Capital Markets technology, with a specific focus on algorithmic trading, risk and surveillance, and distributed computing systems, with a specific focus on Complex Event Processing.

Joseph A. Andrews is vice president of Human Resources for Progress Software Corporation. In this role, Andrews is responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies, plans and programs for Progress Software worldwide. Andrews is a 20-year veteran in human resources. Prior to joining Progress Software, he held the position of vice president Human Resources at NEC Technologies, Inc. in Boxborough, Mass. Before that, Andrews was vice president Human Resources for the Graphic Imaging and Medical Imaging Systems businesses at Polaroid Corporation from 1993 to 1996 and held human resources positions for Digital Equipment Corp. and General Electric Co. since 1980. Andrews earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Massachusetts.

As vice president and general manager of Integration Infrastructure, Ken Rugg is responsible for the products, sales and marketing of the FUSE™ product line as well as product development and strategy for Sonic®, Artix®, Orbix® and Actional®. Rugg also coordinates with a number of other Progress teams to direct strategy and activities of the field, marketing and shared product functions for the integration infrastructure products. Rugg joined Progress as a result of its 2002 acquisition of eXcelon Corporation, the maker of ObjectStore®, where he served as chief technology officer and vice president of product development. In his 10 years at eXcelon, Rugg served in many leadership roles ranging from technical support and education to documentation, QA and product development. Under his technical leadership, eXcelon established its position as the leader in XML database and XML integration technologies, while maintaining its dominant position in the object database market. Rugg studied computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Peter G. Sliwkowski is the vice president of product and support operations. In this role, he is responsible for technical support, product operations,documentation, and education for the Actional, Apama, DataXtend, ObjectStore, Sonic, and OpenEdge product lines. In addition, he is responsible for leading Progress Software India, Progress' primary offshore development center. In his previous executive roles as vice president of products, Enterprise Infrastructure Division, president of the Real Time Division, and vice president of Progress products of the OpenEdge Division, Sliwkowski has been a major contributor to the product strategy and execution for Actional, Apama, DataXtend, ObjectStore, Sonic and OpenEdge product lines.Sliwkowski joined Progress Software in 1988, and is one of the original architects of the Progress 4GL. Sliwkowski holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont.

Tim Dempsey, vice president of marketing, is responsible for all aspects of corporate, direct response, product and partner marketing for Sonic, Real Time and Actional products. He has over 20 years of experience in software marketing, sales support and engineering. Prior to joining the Sonic team, Dempsey was vice president of corporate marketing at Netegrity, Inc., the market leader in Web single sign-on and identity management. Dempsey also served as chief marketing officer for Bowstreet, Inc. from 1999-2001, where he launched the Web services pioneer and drove revenue growth from $0 to $50 million in 18 months. During his tenure at Lotus Development Corporation, he drove Notes product marketing as the business grew to over $500 million in revenue. He also led the company's worldwide business partner program, which surpassed the 15,000-member mark. Before moving on from the company in 1999, Dempsey was also vice president of eBusiness Software Marketing in IBM's Software Group, where his team defined the market and product requirements for the IBM WebSphere application server.

Charles is the Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at DataDirect Technologies, an $80M+ global software company that has long been a market leader in data access and integration technologies. He manages a geographically distributed team of 20 marketers who support nearly 100 sales professionals worldwide. He is also an advisor to two local startups, Jackbe and Zenoss. Charles lives in Burke Virginia with his fantastic wife and three very cool kids.

Coach Hutchen joined the Wolfpack in 2007. Hutchen grew up in Lake Forest, Illinois and later attended Division III Denison College in Ohio. Coach Hutchen is a Sales Rep for Progress Software.

Roger Heinen, Managing Director of Flagship Ventures, Cambridge, MA. Roger is a highly regarded technologist and senior executive and served as an advisor and director for a number of successful technology companies. His distinguished industrial career includes roles as Senior Vice President, Developer Division of Microsoft. Prior to that he served as Senior Vice President of the Software Division at Apple Computer and as a Corporate Consulting Engineer at Digital Equipment. His education includes a BSCS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, SEP from Stanford University, and PhD Hon from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In addition to helping us at Pepper Computer, Roger is currently a Director of ANSYS (Nasdaq: ANSS) and Progress Software (Nasdaq: PRGS) and several technology startups including Black Duck Software, Tira Wireless and VIEO.

Scott McGregor is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Broadcom. In this role, he is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the company, business development and day-to-day operations. Mr. McGregor, who is also a member of the Board of Directors, joined Broadcom in January 2005 after serving since September 2001 as President and CEO of the Philips Semiconductors division of the Netherlands-based Royal Philips Electronics, At Philips, Mr. McGregor oversaw one of the world's largest semiconductor suppliers, with 34,000 employees in over 50 countries and nearly US$6 billion in sales in 2004. In addition to his CEO role, he was also a member of the Group Management Committee of Royal Philips Electronics. He joined Philips Semiconductors in February 1998 as head of its Emerging Business unit, focusing on fast growing markets for smart cards, RFID, networking, digital media processing and computing, and leading the group to profitability and nearly US$1 billion in sales. Before joining Philips, from 1990 to 1998 Mr. McGregor served in various senior management positions, most recently as Senior Vice President and General Manager, at Santa Cruz Operation Inc. (SCO), a provider of network computing solutions. From 1985 to 1990 he served in senior positions at Digital Equipment Corporation (now part of HP) where he led the UNIX workstation software group and was one of the architects of the X Window System. Prior to joining Digital Equipment Corporation, he worked at Microsoft, where he was the Director of the Interactive Systems Group and the architect and development team leader of the original version of Microsoft Windows . Prior to Microsoft, Mr. McGregor spent over six years in various positions at the Xerox Corporation's Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), where he was involved in designing software for the first personal computers employing graphical user interfaces. Mr. McGregor received a B.A. in Psychology and a M.S. in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from Stanford University.
