Terri Union is serving her second term on the PWC board, after being reappointed in July 2006. Union became the first woman to serve on the PWC Board when she was appointed in July 2002. Union served as Chairwoman from 2005 to 2006, becoming the first woman to serve as Chair in the 100 year history of PWC. An active member of the community, Union is a past president of the Fayetteville Area Plant Managers Association, serves as Chairman of the Cumberland County "Friends of the Library" Endowment Committee, serves on the Board of Trustees at Methodist University as well as the Lura Talley Center for Leadership, and serves on the Chancellor's Advisory Board of Fayetteville State University. She is co-chair of the capital campaign to build a new Museum of Art in downtown Fayetteville. She served on the Board of Greater Fayetteville Futures and served on the executive committee.. Union was appointed a trustee of the Cumberland County Public Library and served as Chair from 1989-91, She is a charter member of the Cape Fear Regional Theater, The Education Foundation, and the Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library. She served as President of the Friends in 1982. In 1983 she served as co-chair of the Public Library Finance Committee which put together a $4,000,000+ funding package to build the headquarters library in downtown Fayetteville. Union is a member of the Policy Makers Council of the APPA and is a member of the Legislation and Resolution Committee of APPA. She recently retired as Executive Vice-President of Union Corrugating Company, a family-owned and operated business that started in Fayetteville in 1946. Fayetteville is the home office of the company that produces metal roofing panels and building products and has 10 manufacturing and distribution locations in nine states. In 2004 she was inducted into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor Mike Easley and is the 2006 recipient of the Al Prewitt Economic Visionary Award. In 1988 she was named North Carolina Public Library Trustee of the Year by the NC Public Library Directors Association and in 1992 was selected Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by Methodist College. Union holds an AA degree in art history and design from the Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William and Mary. She and her husband, Carlos Zukowski, have 11 grandchildren.
