Board of Directors
Dan Schimmel is responsible for the strategic direction and all operational aspects of Pyramid Research. He is a high-tech executive with 20 years of leadership experience. Dan is a recognized innovator in creating breakthrough opportunities combining actionable business information, cutting-edge software and value-added services into compelling products for client applications. He will work closely with Pyramid's customers to ensure they receive the continuing benefits from these types of innovations. Previous to Pyramid, Dan was the CEO of OneSource Information Services for 12 years, a global leader in web-based business information solutions. In 1993, Dan led a management buyout of the OneSource division of Lotus with backing from two private equity firms. He led the company through a series of transformations and growth initiatives during his tenure at OneSource. The most significant was the creation of a pioneering line of subscription internet services under the Business Browser product line. These new offerings gave corporate and professional end-users at nearly 1000 top organizations unprecedented access to a rich aggregation of thousands of sources of global company, industry, market, and executive intelligence, allowing better and faster decisions. These client successes fueled a successful initial public offering in 1999 and propelled OneSource's top line growth to well over $50mm of recurring revenues, with nearly 20% pre-tax margins. In 2001, Dan was recognized as an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Previous to leading OneSource, Dan worked in a number of senior product and marketing roles at Lotus Development, focusing on their mass-market software products. He began his career as an associate consultant at the strategy firm of Bain & Co. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and an MBA from Harvard. In his spare time, Dan enjoys golf, fishing, traveling, rooting for Boston sports teams, and spending time with his wife and three children.
