It provides securities brokerage services, trading and research of fixed income products, investment portfolio management services and mutual fund management. In December 2005 the company's total assets under management reached the $100 billion threshold which does not include assets held in direct IRAs, 401(k)s and variable insurance products. Including this class of asset raises total client assets to more than $150 billion.
