Dow Jones Description
Hampden Electric Supply was founded in the early 1930's. In 1972 Robert (Toby) Sanborn purchased Hampden which had 12 employees and sales of nearly 1 million. Eleven years later Toby purchased M.W. Zimmerman Electric Supply and combined the two companies to one location at 721 Worthington Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. There is not enough room on a check for Hampden/Zimmerman Electric Supply Company so the company was incorporated with Toby's initials: R.P.S. Inc. That will fit nicely on a check... In 1985 we opened our first branch in Northampton, MA and in 1990 Toby purchased Bland Electric Supply in Pittsfield, MA. In January of 2007 we became part of U.S. Electrical Services. We presently have 3 locations with 65 employees and sales of over 20 million.
