Andrew Fox-Smith was named group president, International, in December 2008. Mr. Fox-Smith is responsible for the leadership of the Canada, EMEA, Pacific, Latin America, Japan and Asia Pacific-based manufacturing and sourcing operations. Mr. Fox-Smith began his career with Howmedica in February 1994 where he held various sales and marketing positions until 1998 when the company was acquired by Stryker and Mr. Fox-Smith was named managing director of Stryker U.K. and Ireland. He subsequently served as vice president and general manager and then president of the Pacific division from 2001 to 2007. Mr. Fox-Smith holds a bachelor's degree in business from Charles Sturt University in Australia and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Lonny Carpenter was named group president, Instruments and Medical, in December 2008. Mr. Carpenter is responsible for the Instruments and Medical divisions, as well as the Healthcare Systems and Stryker Finance organizations. Mr. Carpenter began his career with Stryker in 1989 at the Instruments division where he excelled in various manufacturing and operations roles, the last being vice president, global operations. In 2006 he was promoted to vice president/general manager of Medical and then to president in 2008. Mr. Carpenter holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Tim Scannell was named group president, Spine and Endoscopy, in December 2008. The leaders of the Spine and Endoscopy divisions report to Mr. Scannell. Mr. Scannell began his career with Stryker in 1990. During eleven years with Stryker Endoscopy, he served in various sales and marketing leadership roles and progressed to the position of executive vice president overseeing sales, marketing and operations. He was then named as vice president and general manager of Stryker Biotech in 2001. In 2003 he was promoted to vice president/general manager of Stryker Spine and later to president of Stryker Spine. Mr. Scannell holds bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from the University of Notre Dame.

Bronwen Taylor was named vice president, internal audit and compliance, in November 2007. Ms. Taylor is responsible for the coordination of Stryker’s compliance programs and liability avoidance efforts worldwide. Ms. Taylor joined Stryker in March 2000 as chief financial officer for Stryker South Pacific. She subsequently served as vice president and chief financial officer and as director, operations, of Stryker South Pacific. In September 2005, she was named the Company’s chief compliance officer. Prior to joining Stryker, Ms. Taylor held senior finance positions in financial services and global mining companies in Australia. She started her career as an accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Australia and held various positions in the Australian and United Kingdom firms of Coopers & Lybrand. Ms. Taylor holds a B.B.A. from the University of Technology, Queensland, Australia, and an M.B.A. from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. She is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Curt Hartman was named vice president and chief financial officer in April 2009. Mr. Hartman is responsible for all corporate accounting, reporting, tax, treasury, internal audit and compliance and information technology departments in addition to global strategic operations and the Global Technology Center in India. Mr. Hartman began his career with Stryker in 1990 at the Instruments division and progressed through a variety of functional leadership roles before being promoted in 1999 to vice president/general manager and then to president of Instruments in 2003. He became vice president, finance, of the Company in December 2008. Mr. Hartman holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Tony M. McKinney, age 39, was appointed Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer in November 2008. He had previously been the Vice President, Finance, International Group since 2006 and Group Controller, International Group since 2004. After joining the Company in 1995, Mr. McKinney held various roles of increasing responsibility in the Corporate Accounting department before becoming the Director, Finance for the Japan Division in 2002. Prior to joining the Company in 1995, Mr. McKinney was an Audit Senior Accountant with Ernst & Young LLP.

Ned Lipes was named executive vice president in September 2003. Mr. Lipes is responsible for advising the Company in the areas of new product and technology acquisitions; legal and intellectual property issues; and maintaining key customer relationships. Mr. Lipes began his career with Stryker in April 1988 as president of Physiotherapy Associates. He went on to serve numerous roles in the Orthopaedics division, including president and vice president, group president. Mr. Lipes holds a B.A. in Administrative Science from Colby College and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.

Curtis Hall joined Stryker as its General Counsel in 1994 and was named Vice President and General Counsel in June 2004. Mr. Hall is responsible for leading Stryker’s legal function across the Company. Prior to joining Stryker, Mr. Hall was a partner in the Michigan law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock & Stone, an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington, D.C., and an Assistant District Attorney in New York City. Mr. Hall received his law degree from Yale Law School and his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia.

Beth Staub was named vice president, regulatory affairs and quality assurance, in April 2006. Ms. Staub is responsible for overseeing Stryker’s compliance with worldwide product quality and regulatory requirements, including FDA and other regulatory bodies. Ms. Staub began her career with Stryker in April 1989 and held a number of quality, regulatory and operational positions within the Company’s Orthopaedics division, including manager, quality assurance; team leader for the packaging cell; manufacturing team leader for the external support cell; director of the knee steering team; vice president, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and clinical research; and director of the business process excellence project. She then served as director, regulatory affairs and quality assurance, for the Company from 2005 to 2006. Prior to joining Stryker, Ms. Staub spent six years with Baxter Healthcare in a variety of quality assurance positions. Ms. Staub holds a B.S. in Medical Technology from York College of Pennsylvania.

Eric Lum was named vice president, tax, in March 2001. Mr. Lum is responsible for worldwide corporate income tax matters, including U.S. (federal and international) and non-U.S. income tax planning; compliance and audits; and accounting for income taxes. Mr. Lum began his career with Stryker in April 1987 as tax manager. He subsequently served as director of tax from 1991 to 2001. Prior to joining Stryker, Mr. Lum served as tax manager at Price Waterhouse & Co. (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), where he provided a broad range of tax services to a variety of U.S. and non-U.S. multi-national corporate and individual clients. Mr. Lum holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Western Michigan University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

James Kemler was named vice president, group president, Biotech, Osteosynthesis and Development, in January 2008. The leaders of the Biotech and Osteosynthesis divisions and the Development organization report to Mr. Kemler. Mr. Kemler joined Stryker in October 1995 as general manager, Stryker Biotech. He subsequently served as vice president, group president of Biotech, Spine, Osteosynthesis and Development. Prior to joining Stryker, Mr. Kemler served as chief operating officer for Sabratek Corp. He previously held various positions with Baxter International in the U.S. and Germany, including vice president, global marketing/R&D; vice president, global manufacturing; and director, finance. Mr. Kemler holds a B.S. in Engineering from Duke University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard School of Business.

Jeanne Blondia joined Stryker as vice president and treasurer in May 2008. Ms. Blondia is responsible for the Treasury department including all treasury, risk, insurance and travel functions. Prior to joining Stryker, Ms. Blondia served as the vice president and treasurer of Constellation Energy Group, Inc. At Constellation she had full treasury responsibilities including funding plans for business growth and was also highly involved in merger and acquisition activities. She previously worked at the General Motors Treasurer's office in New York and held various roles of increasing responsibility, including director of business development for GMAC, GM's finance subsidiary. She began her career as an analyst at DRI, an economic consulting firm. Ms. Blondia holds a B.A. in Economics from Kalamazoo College and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Michigan.

Katherine Owen joined Stryker as vice president, strategy and investor relations, in February 2007. Ms. Owen is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and business development processes at Stryker, as well as investor relations. Prior to joining Stryker, Ms. Owen served as a medical technology analyst at Merrill Lynch. She previously served as a medical technology analyst at Cowen & Co./SG Cowen. She also was a corporate lending analyst at State Street Bank and an underwriter at Chubb Insurance Corporation. Ms. Owen holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a M.B.A. from Boston College.

Mike Rude joined Stryker as vice president, human resources, in July 2000. Mr. Rude is responsible for all worldwide human resource activities, including organization and talent management, executive compensation, health and welfare plans, corporate affairs, communications and human resources information systems. Prior to joining Stryker, Mike served as vice president, human resources, for the cardiology division of Boston Scientific. He previously served in various HR generalist and organizational development leadership positions at The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation. Mike started his professional career at Baxter International, where he held various human resources roles at the division, group and corporate level. Mr. Rude holds a B.A. and M.A. in Organizational Communications from the University of Illinois.

Si Johnson was named advisor to the president and chief executive officer in January 2009. Mr. Johnson began his career with Stryker in February 1980. He held various sales and marketing positions until being named general manager of Stryker Instruments in 1992. He then served as president of Stryker Instruments from 1995 to 1999. He was promoted to vice president, group president, MedSurg, in February 2000. Mr. Johnson holds a B.A. from Kalamazoo College and an M.A. from Ohio University.

Vice President and Secretary Tom Winkel was named vice president and secretary in February 2005. Mr. Winkel serves as secretary to the Board of Directors. Mr. Winkel began his career with Stryker in October 1978. He served as assistant controller/secretary until 1979 and then became vice president/controller/secretary in 1980 and held that position for seven years. He was then named vice president, administration. Mr. Winkel also served as vice president and president, Americas Middle East, until 1998, when he was again appointed vice president, administration, which he served as until August 2007. Mr. Winkel holds a B.A. in Finance from Michigan State University Honors College and participated in the Executive Development Program at the University of Michigan.

Jim Praeger was named vice president and controller of the Company in September 2008. Mr. Praeger is responsible for all accounting-related functions, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Mr. Praeger joined Stryker in January 1995 as the corporate accounting manager. He then served six years at the Company’s Medical division as controller and director, finance and information systems and was promoted to corporate controller in 2002. Prior to joining Stryker, Mr. Praeger worked in public accounting for five years as an audit manager for Ernst & Young. Mr. Praeger holds a B.A. in Accounting from Indiana University and is also a Certified Public Accountant.

John W. Brown is Chairman of the Board of InHealth. He also currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Stryker Corporation, a position he has held since 1980. Mr. Brown started his distinguished career as an engineer for the Ormet Corporation, an aluminum manufacturer, and then worked for Thiokol Chemical Corporation where he developed rocket propellants. In 1972, Mr. Brown became President of Edward Weck & Company, a subsidiary of Squibb Corporation, a position he held until 1977 when he became President and Chief Executive Officer of Stryker Corporation after the death of Lee Stryker, son of company founder Dr. Homer Stryker. Under Mr. Brown's leadership, Stryker went public in 1977 and steadfastly expanded its product lines. The company grew from $23 million in revenue in 1977 to over $4.9 billion by 2005, and the number of employees increased from 325 to 15,000 during the same period. Mr. Brown is a Director of National City Corporation, Cleveland, Ohio. He is also a Director of the American Business Conference, a coalition of Chief Executive Officers of mid-size, high growth companies. Mr. Brown serves as a governor-appointee on the Michigan Economic Development Committee, is a Board member of Southwest Michigan First, Greater Kalamazoo United Way and the Southwest Michigan Healthcare Coalition.

Dr. Engelman has served as the Eugene Higgins Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University since 1979, with assignment to Yale College, the graduate school and the medical school. Dr. Engelman is also a trustee of Reed College and has been a member of the National Academy of Science since 1997.

Howard L. Lance, 52, is our Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Lance joined Harris in January 2003 as President and Chief Executive Officer and was appointed Chairman in June 2003. Prior to joining Harris, Mr. Lance was President of NCR Corporation, an information technology services provider, and Chief Operating Officer of its Retail and Financial Group from July 2001 until October 2002. Prior to joining NCR, he spent 17 years with Emerson Electric Company, an electronic products and systems company, where he held increasingly senior management positions with different divisions of the company. In 1999, Mr. Lance was named Executive Vice President with operating responsibility for its Electronics and Telecommunications businesses. Earlier, Mr. Lance held sales and marketing positions with the Scott-Fetzer Company and Caterpillar, Inc. Mr. Lance has been a member of our Board since January 2003. Mr. Lance is also a director of Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. and Eastman Chemical Company and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Aerospace Industries Association, the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI, Inc., the Florida Council of 100, the United Way of Brevard County and the Florida Institute of Technology.

Ms. Francesconi is the former vice president of Raytheon Company and former president of its Missile Systems business, which she led from 1996 to July 2008. Ms. Francesconi is also a director of the Tucson Medical Center HealthCare board of trustees, the Tucson Airport Authority, the board for Unisource Energy Corporation and the board of Global Solar Energy. In addition, she is a member of the national board of advisors and an executive in residence for the University of Arizona Eller School of Business Management.

Ms. Stryker is the granddaughter of the founder of Stryker, Homer H. Stryker, M.D., and daughter of the former president of the Company, L. Lee Stryker. Ms. Stryker also serves as vice chair and a director of Greenleaf Trust, a bank, vice chair and trustee of Spelman College and a trustee of Kalamazoo College and the Kalamazoo Community Foundation.

Mr. Parfet has served as chairman and chief executive officer of MPI Research, Inc., a drug safety and pharmaceutical development company, since 1999. Mr. Parfet is also a director of Monsanto Company, a provider of agricultural products that improve farm productivity, and Taubman Centers, Inc., a real estate development company.
