Hunter Hollar is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc. and its subsidiary Sandy Spring Bank. He has served on the Board of Directors since his hire in 1990 and is presently the only inside director.
Mr. Hollar joined Sandy Spring Bank as President and Chief Operating Officer in December 1990 and assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer in 1994. Under his leadership, Sandy Spring has grown from $500 million in assets to $3.2 billion, from 10 branch offices to 42, and from a single commercial bank to a financial services organization incorporating subsidiaries for insurance, equipment leasing, and asset management.
Mr. Hollar's banking career spans over 30 years with an emphasis in commercial lending and general management. Prior to joining Sandy Spring he was Senior Credit Officer for Dominion Bank of Richmond in Virginia. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia and a MBA from James Madison University. Mr. Hollar is a past Chairman of the Maryland Bankers Association and is currently serving a three year term as a Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

Frank Small was hired by Sandy Spring in 1990 as Vice President & Retail Branch Administrator. He was promoted to the executive management team in 1994 and was named Chief Operating Officer in 2002.
Mr. Small's banking career began in 1969 with a small community bank and progressed to Vice President and Manager of Branch Operations at the former Maryland National Bank before joining Sandy Spring. Mr. Small holds a BA from the University of Maryland and has completed numerous continuing education courses in banking, management, and leadership. Mr. Small chairs the Executive Leadership Team at Sandy Spring and as such oversees the major functions of commercial banking, retail banking, corporate services, risk management, finance, and information technology. In conjunction with Mr. Hollar, Mr. Small is responsible for the strategic planning process for the company.

Prior to joining Sandy Spring Bank, Jeff was a Senior Vice President and Senior Credit Officer for a large regional bank in the eastern United States. His career in banking spans over 28 years, during which time he specialized in commercial lending, commercial real estate, and loan review. Jeff received a B.S. from Penn State University and an MBA in Finance from Marymount University.

Mr. Kuykendall joined Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc. as General Counsel and Secretary in January 2000. He was named Executive Vice President in 2002. He provides executive leadership and counsel in the areas of law and corporate governance and regulatory management. Prior to Sandy Spring, he was Associate General Counsel for Suntrust in Richmond, Virginia. He has been a member of numerous industry panel discussions or spoken on legal issues in the financial services industry, compliance issues and corporate ethics. He is admitted to practice law in Maryland and Virginia and received his J.D. degree from the University of Richmond where he was a member of the Law Review and Moot Court Board, and his B.A., with distinction, from the University of Virginia. Mr. Kuykendall is a member of the Board of Governors of the Corporate Counsel section of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia and Maryland bar associations, Association of Corporate Counsel, and the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals.

Bill has worked in commercial banking with an emphasis on commercial lending for over 30 years. His work experience includes regional management, operations management, and sales management. Since joining Sandy Spring Bank in 2003, he has expanded lines of business for middle-market lending, participation lending, and new treasury management products. Bill graduated from Brown University with a BA, and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Bateman has over 30 years of local commercial and retail banking experience, having held a variety of senior management positions since 1978 with M&T Bank and its predecessor institutions Allfirst and First National Bank of Maryland. From 1988 through 2006 he was Vice President responsible for M&T's Financial Institutions Division, managing sales and service to financial institutions throughout the southwest portion of M&T Bank's Mid-Atlantic Region (MD, DC & northern VA). In this capacity he successfully sold to and serviced the largest downstream correspondent banks and credit unions within the Division. Prior to 1988, Bateman was the Marketing and Operations head of the Greater Washington Region, a marketing executive in the Trust area, and held retail positions in the branch system in multiple geographic markets. Before joining First National Bank of Maryland, he served in branch banking positions in three counties and Baltimore city with the Bank of Baltimore for four years.
Bateman holds a Masters degree in Administrative Science from the Johns Hopkins University and a BA from the University of Maryland. He is a past and present member of a variety of business and civic organizations, including both Maryland and Virginia trade groups, and Chambers of Commerce in Montgomery, Howard, Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties.

Marshall H. Groom was a founding director of Potomac Bank of Virginia. With more than 30 years in banking, Mr. Groom is well known within Northern Virginia's business, professional and medical communities. Before founding Potomac Bank of Virginia, Mr. Groom served as Chief Executive Officer for three earlier community banks: Potomac Bank & Trust in Fairfax, Services National Bank in Arlington, and George Mason Bank in Fairfax. Mr. Groom joined the Board of Sandy Spring Bancorp and Bank upon the acquisition of Potomac Bank of Virginia by Sandy Spring Bank.
