Sanoma knows media - it owns all of them. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, SanomaWSOY (Helsinki: SWSAV) is the top media conglomerate in Scandinavia. The company publishes and distributes 270 magazines in 12 countries, publishes daily and tabloid newspapers, prints literary and educational books, and has a TV channel and a cable company. It also operates book stores, movie theaters, and convenience stores. It has five divisions that operate in 20 countries in Europe. The company has annual revenue of about $3.2 billion and employs about 13,700 people. In 2005, it acquired Independent Media Holding B.V.for about $170 million and TK Pressexpo, a press distribution company in the Moscow region. In 2005 it divested Dark, a digital printer, in August, the Ajasto diary group in September, and the printing house LA�nnberg Painot in October.
