Currently AT&T, Inc., formed in 2005 by SBC Communications' purchase of its former parent company, AT&T Corp. As a part of the merger, SBC shed its name and took on the iconic AT&T moniker and the ?T? stock-trading symbol. SBC Communications Inc. was a Fortune 50 company whose subsidiaries, operating under the SBC brand, provided a full range of voice, data, networking, e-business, directory publishing and advertising, and related services to businesses, consumers and other telecommunications providers. SBC held a 60 percent ownership interest in Cingular Wireless, which served more than 50 million wireless customers. SBC companies provided high-speed DSL Internet access lines to more American consumers than any other provider and were among the nation's leading providers of Internet services. SBC companies also offered satellite TV service.
