Mr. Vander Zanden became Chief Executive Officer of School Specialty in September 2002, after serving as Interim Chief Executive Officer since March 2002. Mr. Vander Zanden served as President and Chief Operating Officer from March 1998 to March 2002. From 1992 to March 1998, he served as President of Ariens Company, a manufacturer of outdoor lawn and garden equipment. Mr. Vander Zanden has served as a director of School Specialty since June 1998.

Thomas Slagle President and Chief Operating Officer Mr. Slagle joined School Specialty as President and Chief Operating Officer in March 2007. Prior to joining School Specialty, Mr. Slagle served as Group President, Supply Chain Services - Medical for Cardinal Health, Inc., where he held profit and loss responsibility for five business segments with over $7 billion of revenue. Mr. Slagle’s 11 years with Cardinal Health, as well as prior executive management positions with Johnson & Johnson Ortho Diagnostics Division and Baxter Healthcare, included advancing through positions of increasing responsibility in operations, sales, supply chain and distribution management.

David Vander Ploeg Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer Mr. Vander Ploeg joined School Specialty as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in April 2008, having previously been Chief Operating Officer of Dutchland Plastics Corp., Oostburg, WI. Prior to that he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Schneider National, Inc., Green Bay, WI, a $3.7 billion global leader in transportation and logistics services. During a 24-year career at Schneider National, he advanced through several positions of increasing responsibility, including Director of Planning and Budgeting, Group Controller, Vice President of Finance, and Senior Vice President-Operating Chief Financial Officer, prior to being named Executive VP and CFO in 2004.

Terry L. Lay Chief Executive Officer of Haggar Clothing Co. Chairman of the School Specialty Board Mr. Lay has served as a director of School Specialty since June 2004 and was appointed non-executive Chairman of the Board in February 2006. He was named Chief Executive Officer of Haggar Clothing Co. in 2007. Mr. Lay retired from VF Corporation in June 2005 having served as its Vice President and Chairman - Global Jeanswear Coalition. Previously, he served as Vice President and Chairman - Outdoor and International Jeanswear Coalitions. In October 2000, Mr. Lay was named Vice President Global Processes for VF Corporation in addition to his role as Chairman of VF's International Jeanswear Coalition, which he held from March 1999 until his retirement. He previously served as President of Lee Apparel.

Mr. Trucksess is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saia. He was named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Yellow Regional Transportation Group (now Saia, Inc.) in February 2000 and served as Chief Executive Officer until December 2006. Mr. Trucksess is a director of School Specialty, Inc., a publicly-traded provider of educational products and services.

David G. Gomach has served as a director of MarketAxess since February 2005. He is a member of the audit committee. Mr. Gomach, 46, joined the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) in 1987 where he held various positions. From June 1997 until his retirement from CME in November 2004, he served as Chief Financial Officer. From 1996 until 1997, Mr. Gomach served as Vice President, Internal Audit and Administration. Also, during his tenure at the exchange, he was a Senior Director, and Assistant Controller. Prior to joining the CME, Mr. Gomach held positions at Perkin-Elmer, Singer Corporation and Mercury Marine, a subsidiary of Brunswick Corporation. Mr. Gomach received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and an M.B.A. from Roosevelt University. He is a certified public accountant.

Herbert A. Trucksess III Chairman and former Chief Executive Officer of Saia, Inc. Mr. Trucksess has served as a director of School Specialty since February 2007. He is the Chairman and former Chief Executive Officer of Saia, Inc., previously SCS Transportation Inc., a leading less-than-truckload transportation and supply chain solutions business. Prior to leading Saia, Mr. Trucksess was CFO at Saia's former parent, Yellow Corporation (now YRC Worldwide) and previously held executive positions with affiliates of Sun Company (now Sunoco, Inc.).
