Dr. Rubin has spoken to professional and lay audiences around the world, in countries including Japan, Germany, Mexico, England, Denmark, Lithuania, and Finland. In 1997 the American Diabetes Association named him Outstanding Educator in Diabetes. Dr. Rubin is an active member of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), holding a number of leadership positions in both organizations. He was also a member (1988-1991) and Chairman (1990-91) of the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. Dr. Rubin received his BA in history from The Johns Hopkins University in 1965, and his PhD in social psychology from Hopkins in 1971.

Dr. Brian Long specializes in bariatric surgery, performing both lap band and laparoscopic gastric bypass surgeries. He is currently a member of Foxhall Surgical Associates, PC. Dr. Long served as Chief of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 2004-2006. He is a 1997 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Dr. Long received his General Surgery Residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Memorial Hospital, and he received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.

Kelley Osborne is a clinical coordinator whose sole responsibility is streamlining the process for weight loss surgery patients. Mrs. Osborne is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with many years experience in the field of Bariatrics. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech and her Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. Mrs. Osborne manages the program and coordinates weight loss patient care. She is the first point of patient contact and provides pre-screening and pre-operative education to help patients understand the biological and lifestyle changes that come with lap band, gastric bypass and other bariatric surgeries. She offers post-operative and long-term support by monitoring patient progress and providing ongoing education and encouragement to help patients maximize long-term success.

Jennie Tarica, Breast Center Nurse Navigator since July 2008, is an educator, advocate and guide. She coordinates all aspects of a patient's care - from diagnosis and treatment to recovery. Jennie has been at Sibley since 1986, as a Clinical Nurse, Nurse Manager, Education and Training specialist in Oncology and Pain Management and most recently she has been the Pain Management Coordinator since 2000. She earned her MSN in Nursing Administration from George Mason University and she has been endorsed by the Professional Advancement for Clinical Excellence (PACE) at the RN III level since 2005.
Carilyn Maxwell oversees the front desk at the Sibley Center for Weight Loss Surgery and handles patient correspondence and appointment scheduling. She assists in coordinating the surgical calendar for our practice serving the Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC area. Prior to joining our team, she was the office manager for the Bert M. Glaser National Retina Institute. Ms. Maxwell has also been a supervisor with Blue Cross Blue Shield and has extensive experience in training, development and claims processing. She brings her extensive experience to helping weight loss surgery patients with insurance compensation. She is a graduate of Central State University with a Bachelor's degree in English.

Jodie Hofacre is our bariatric dietitian. She evaluates each patient's individual dietary habits and nutritional needs. Ms. Hofacre offers weight loss nutrition education to help each patient develop healthy eating habits and understand the post weight loss surgery dietary restrictions. Post-operatively, she explains step-by-step meal progression and the special needs that may arise after weight management surgery. Ms. Hofacre also provides weight loss patient education on vitamin supplements and protein intake to prevent malnutrition, as well as continual monitoring of nutrition status with ongoing weight loss. Ms. Hofacre is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a BS in Dietetics. She completed her dietetic internship at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She has extensive experience with weight loss nutrition.
Dr. Zuurbier, Director of Breast Imaging since 2002 at Sibley's Sullivan Center for Breast Health is recognized as a leader in the early detection of breast cancer. In 2007, she was named one of America's Top Radiologists by the independent Consumer's Research Council of America. Prior to joining Sibley, she spent ten years as Director of the Betty Lou Ourisman Breast Health Center at Georgetown University, Director of the Breast Imaging Division, and Director of the Radiology Residency. She had a faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor of Radiology at Georgetown. She has appeared on national network news (CBS, ABC) as an expert commentator. Currently, Dr. Zuurbier serves as a Trustee of The National Consortium of Breast Centers.

Dr. Gage played a pivotal role in establishing The Sibley Center for Breast Health. Dr. Gage consulted with the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy at Beth Israel Hospital and the Dana Farber Institute, both at the Harvard University Medical School, where she was also an instructor and research fellow in radiation oncology. Dr. Gage is an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and is often a speaker at national and international conferences.
