Dr. Jongtae Ihm is Vice President of SK Telecom, as well as Head of Mobile Device & Access Network R&D Centre, where he is responsible for technology and solution development of terminals and access systems in both WCDMA and CDMA. After receiving his Ph.D degree from Yonsei University in 1993, he joined SK Telecom and worked on radio technology research. During his career spanning over 14 years, he has been involved in research and development of wireless access network systems, which commercially deployed the world's first CDMA service in Korea as well as the third-generation synchronized IMT-2000 system, cdma2000 1xEV-DO. He was then in charge of mobile device and platform technology development, enhancing mobile multimedia services and offering consistently personalised service through any device. His current research interests are developing a business model for future mobile services, principally on the convergence of telecommunication. Dr. Ihm has represented SKT in IMT-2000 and evolution researches. He has actively led and served as Chair in the Service and Marketing committees of the Next Generation Mobile Communication Forum(NGMC), Mobile Platform Standardization Forum(KWISF) and Telematics Standardization Forum.
