Larry Page was Google's founding CEO and grew the company to more than 200 employees and profitability before moving into his role as president of products in April 2001. He continues to share responsibility for Google's day-to-day operations with Eric Schmidt and Sergey Brin. The son of Michigan State University computer science professor Dr. Carl Victor Page, Larry's love of computers began at age six. While following in his father's footsteps in academics, he became an honors graduate from the University of Michigan, where he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering, with a concentration on computer engineering. During his time in Ann Arbor, Larry built an inkjet printer out of Lego™ bricks. While in the Ph.D. program in computer science at Stanford University, Larry met Sergey Brin, and together they developed and ran Google, which began operating in 1998. Larry went on leave from Stanford after earning his master's degree. In 2002, Larry was named a World Economic Forum Global Leader for Tomorrow. He is a member of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) of the University of Michigan College of Engineering, and together with co-founder Sergey Brin, Larry was honored with the Marconi Prize in 2004. Dr. Richard Jackson is a board certified psychiatrist in adult, adolescent and child psychiatry, with added qualifications in forensic psychiatry. Catherine is a second year doctoral graduate student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Michigan. She graduated in 2003 from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in Psycholgy. Before entering graduate school, Catherine worked for two years as a Lab Manager for a prospective longitudinal study of preadolescent girls with ADHD at UC Berkeley. She also worked for a year in an individualized autism intervention program using play- and behaviorally-based therapies. Phil Kucab is a pre-medical student (undergraduate) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is also a research assistant for a project related to Factor VIII mutant constructs. A native of Utah, Adams received a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Utah before earning his master's in business administration at Utah State University. Prior to joining the Michigan League as president/CEO in August of 1997, Adams served as the Washington League President from 1991 - 1997. He also served on the staff of the Utah CU League for 10 years, the last three as president/CEO. He began his career as an Internal Auditor for a large Savings & Loan in Utah. During his CU career, Adams has served on several boards and committees. These have included service as a Director on the Magic Line and NYCE Boards as well as the Board of Directors of U.M.T.A. Nancy M. Bacon is Senior Vice President of Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD) in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Dr. Kelch is Special Assistant to the President and the recently retired Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs at the University of Michigan. In this role, he led all three components of the University of Michigan Health System, including the Hospitals and Health Centers, the Medical School and the M-CARE managed care organization. Dr. Kelch was the Vice President for Health Affairs at the University of Iowa (UI) until September 2003. In this capacity, he was responsible for the strategic planning of the five health sciences colleges, including physical facilities and philanthropic stewardship. He oversaw and managed all components of UI Health Care, which describes the partnership between the UI Carver College of Medicine and the UI Hospitals and Clinics and the patient care, medical education, research programs, and research services that they provide. He co-chaired the Health Sciences Policy Council for the University of Iowa. Dr. Kelch also served as Dean of the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine at the UI from 1994 to 2003. In addition to serving on the editorial boards of scholarly journals, Dr. Kelch belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Endocrine Society, the American Federation for Medical Research, the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society, the American Pediatrics Society and the American Board of Medical Specialties. He served as President of the Midwest Society for Pediatric Research in 1983, President of the Society of Pediatric Research in 1988 and President of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairmen in 1989. He served as Secretary-Treasurer (1992) and Chair (1995) of the American Board of Pediatrics. In 1998 1999, he served as a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Council of Deans Administrative Board and continues to serve as Chair of the AAMC Advisory Panel on Research. He was also a member of the AAMC Task Force on Conflict of Interest. Starting in 1997 he has served periodically as a Site Visitor for the Liaison Committee of Medical Education for other AAMC-accredited colleges of medicine. Dr. Kelch received the Iowa Medical Society's Merit Award in 2000. In 2004, he received the Midwest Society for Pediatric Research Founder Award for his contributions to pediatric research and to the career development of academic pediatricians. He is the recipient of the 2005 Joseph W. St. Geme Jr. Leadership Award, established by the Federation of Pediatric Organizations. Dr. Kelch was elected to membership in the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences in 1996. Dr. Kelch is a pediatric endocrinologist originally from Detroit. He received his bachelor of philosophy degree from Monteith College of Wayne State University in 1964 and his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1967. He completed an internship and residency at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he was a Wyeth Pediatric Residency Fellow from 1968 to 1970 and a Research Fellow from 1969 to 1970 in the laboratory of Robert Jaffe. Dr. Kelch was also a National Institutes of Health (NIH) trainee in pediatric endocrinology at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center from 1970 to 1972. He returned to Michigan and became a faculty member at the University of Michigan in 1972 and became a full Professor in 1977. He served as Acting Chair of the Department of Pediatrics from 1979 to 1980 and as Chair of that Department from 1981 to 1994. During this time, he was Physician in Chief of the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan and was Chief of Clinical Affairs at University of Michigan Hospitals from 1989 to 1992. His research in reproductive and developmental endocrinology was funded by NIH for more than 20 years and resulted in more than 100 scholarly articles.

Al Pond is a senior consultant with the Lean Learning Center. He is a retired senior manager from Ford Motor Company with 38 years of manufacturing experience in operations, engineering and strategic planning. He was one of the founding executive members of the Ford Production System team responsible for design, development, and deployment of lean engineering methods across global operations. This included the executive lead for ensuring that major new vehicle programs worldwide were in full compliance with lean practices. In addition, Al was the senior coach and mentor for lean implementation in South America, Asia-Pacific and all Component operations. Al's influence was not limited to lean operations, as he was recognized by the American Society of Training and Development for outstanding program achievement in the automotive industry as the author of Ford's New Employee Orientation program, a comprehensive indoctrination program for technical new hires. In addition, Al was the driving force behind Ford's sole achievement of the prestigious TPM prize awarded by the Japanese Institute of Preventive Maintenance at the Charleville Climate Operations plant in France. Al has the distinction of being among an elite group of manufacturing executives that have actually worked on the factory floor. He started his career as a union represented production worker then progressed through skilled trades via the apprenticeship program and on to engineering and management. Al's many assignments, starting as worker, progressing on to the executive level coupled with his passion for manufacturing have given him a most unique perspective and background as a lean change agent. He is a graduate of the skilled trades program, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and an MBA. He is a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan and is involved in curriculum development centered on lean. Anne Schott, M.D., is assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Mich. One of three executive officers for Southwest Oncology Group, Dr. Schott monitors the protocol development activities of the breast cancer, early therapeutics, lung, head and neck, and special populations committees. She is a member of the Group's Board of Governors, Breast Cancer Committee, and Breast Translational Medicine Subcommittee. Dr. Schott is a medical oncologist with a clinical emphasis on breast cancer. A Southerner at heart, Dr. Schott completed her undergraduate training at the University of South Alabama in Mobile in 1986. Brad Smith is based at the University of Michigan where he is Associate Professor at the School of Art and Design; Associate Dean for Creative Work, Research and Graduate Studies, School of Art and Design; and Research Associate Professor, Department of Radiology, Medical School. Smith has led the implementation of a new three-year Masters of Fine Arts curriculum that engages the creative work of artists and designers with work from disciplines such as the life sciences, sociology, education, law, ecology, politics, and business. Dr. Brian P. Coppola is an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Chemistry at The University of Michigan, where he currently serves as the department's Associate Chair. Dr. Coppola received his B.S. degree in 1978 from the University of New Hampshire and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1984. He moved to Ann Arbor in 1986. He directs the CSIE program (Chemical Sciences at the Interface of Education), which broadens the scholarly development for all students (undergraduate to post-doctoral) who are interested in academic careers. These students have the opportunity to collaborate on teaching projects with the faculty in the same way that they pursue research projects. He is a member of the editorial boards of The Chemical Educator, The International Journal of Science Education, The Journal for Research in Science Teaching, and The Journal of College Science Teaching.

Bruce G. Redman, D.O., is professor of internal medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. As one of three executive officers in Southwest Oncology Group, Dr. Redman provides oversight for gastrointestinal, genitourinary, immunomolecular therapeutics and melanoma studies. He also is a member of the Group's Melanoma Committee and the Board of Governors. Dr. Redman received his osteopathy degree in 1981 from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he also completed his training in internal medicine. He completed his fellowship in medical oncology at Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1987. From 1987 to 1997, he was a faculty member in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Wayne State University, where he served as the program director of the Oncology Fellowship Training Program. In 1997, Dr. Redman joined the faculty of the University of Michigan and has since been appointed co-director of the Tumor Immunology and Immunotherapy Program. His primary interest is in immunotherapeutic approaches to the treatment of cancer, especially as they apply to melanoma and kidney cancer. Dr. Redman is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters.

Since 2000, Dr. Liddle has been a partner at U.S. Venture Partners, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm. Between 1992 and 1999, he served as president of Interval Research Corporation, a Silicon Valley-based laboratory and incubator for new businesses focusing on broadband, consumer devices, interaction design and advanced technologies. Principal Mark Wamble received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University in 1983 and received his Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University in 1988. Wamble worked as a Project Designer with Eisenman Architects in New York (1983-1991) and was on the design team for the Wexner Center for the Visual Arts at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio (1983-1991). While with Eisenman Architects, Wamble also developed a line of textiles for Knoll International (1990-1991), was Project Architect on the Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio (1988-1993), was Project Architect on three office buildings in Tokyo, Japan (1988-1992), and with his team, Mark designed the winning scheme for the Rebstockpark Competition in Frankfort, Germany (1990-1991). In 1990 Wamble returned to Texas, and in 1994 formed Interloop Architects, combining his interest in research and practical experience. Wamble developed Gardiner Symonds Teaching Labs 1 & 2, a series of technology based teaching facilities for Rice University. During the early 1990s Mark was selected for 40 under 40, and later that same year won the Young Architect Award given annually by the Architecture League of New York. Mark Wamble was Design Principal at Bricker + Cannady Architects in Houston (1997-2001), continuing to research throughout this time period with partner Dawn Finley of Interloop A/D. While at BCA, Mark produced the design for the Renovation of Jones Plaza in Downtown Houston, which won an AIA award and a PA Award both in 1999. Wamble combines professional practice with teaching architecture design. He has taught at Rice University School of Architecture since 1990, and is a visiting instructor at the University of Michigan, Harvard University, and Columbia University.

Douglas J. "Doug" Herberger was appointed GM North America vice president and Service and Parts Operations general manager, effective February 1, 2002. Herberger began his GM career in 1973 with the former Harrison Division in Lockport, NY, as a college graduate in training. In 1976, he joined the GM Financial staff in Detroit where he held a variety of analyst and senior analyst positions. From 1980 to 1983, Herberger held several supervisory positions on the former Fisher Body Division's Financial and Business Planning staffs in Warren, Mich. In 1983, he returned to the GM Financial staff as director of cost analysis, and the following year he was named a director in GM's Treasurer's Office. In 1985, Herberger was appointed assistant divisional comptroller for the former Fisher Guide Division and the next year became director of Business Operations. In 1987, he was named executive assistant to the group executive-in-charge of component operations for GM's Automotive Components Group Worldwide (now known as Delphi). Herberger was appointed general director of costing and measurement systems on the GM Comptroller's staff in 1988 and was named divisional comptroller of the Central Foundry Division, now part of GM Powertrain, Saginaw, Mich., in 1990. He joined GM Service Parts Operations in 1992 as general director of finance and a year later was named general director of Consumer Related Aftermarket. Herberger was appointed general director of ACDelco Aftermarket in May 1996. The following year he was named president of General Motors Japan and a member of the Asia Pacific Strategy Board. Herberger repatriated to the United States in 1998 to his most recent assignment.
