Smith has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and as Chairman of the Board of Directors since the company’s inception. He has over 30 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. Prior to joining SUA, Smith served as Chief Executive Officer and President of TIG Specialty Insurance, a leading specialty insurance underwriter. While at TIG, Smith was instrumental in restructuring the company and changed TIG from an outsourced company to a controlled program specialty company. Smith has also served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Coregis Group, Inc., an insurer specializing in program business consolidated from the various Crum & Forster companies. He has also served in various executive positions at Industrial Indemnity, AIG and Hartford Insurance Group. Smith is a member of the Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters, served on the advisory board of Illinois State University’s Katie Insurance School, was a member of the board of directors of the Alliance of American Insurers and was a trustee of American Institute of CPCU/ Insurance Institute of America.

Cordeiro has served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer since July 2005 and was appointed as a Senior Vice President in February 2007. He has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, developing applications and managing hardware and software solutions at the enterprise level and within individual business segments. Prior to joining SUA, Cordeiro served as President of Chicago Financial Technology, Inc., a global technology consulting and integration company. Cordeiro has also held numerous technology leadership positions with CNA Financial Corporation, most recently as Chief Information Officer of the Specialty Insurance Group and Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the eBusiness group.

Cacchione has served as Vice President and as Chief Underwriting Officer since December 2007 and was appointed as a Senior Vice President in January of 2009. Cacchione has been a Program Director with SUA since our inception and has been responsible for managing the underwriting relationship with Risk Transfer Holdings, Inc. and Specialty Risk Solutions, LLC. He has over 20 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry with particular expertise in the specialty area. Prior to joining SUA, Cacchione was Vice President of Marketing for Kemper Insurance, Middle Markets Group. Cacchione also held several leadership positions at CNA Financial Corporation, most recently as Senior Vice President in charge of its Commercial Affiliation Marketing (CAM) programs which focus on specialty business.

Ferguson has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Claims Officer since our inception. He has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining SUA, Ferguson served as Senior Vice President and Managing Claims Director of TIG Specialty Insurance, a multi-line insurance company where he focused on converting the company from an outsourced claims function to an internally controlled organization. Prior to that time, Ferguson created a specialty claims organization in the southeast for the Zenith Insurance Company. Ferguson has also held various senior positions with Crum & Forster companies and Coregis Group, Inc., both specialty organizations.

Jokiel has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and a Director since our inception. He has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining SUA, Jokiel was President and Chief Executive Officer of CNA Financial Corporation’s life operations and also served as Chief Financial Officer of CNA Financial Corporation. Prior to that time, Jokiel served in various senior management positions at CNA and was an accountant at Touche Ross & Co. in Chicago. He is a certified public accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Society of CPAs. Jokiel is a past member of the FASB Emerging Issues Task Force and the AICPA Insurance Companies Committee.

Charbonneau has served as Vice President and our Chief Actuary since January 2005. He has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining SUA, Charbonneau served as Vice President and Chief Reserving Officer for Kemper Insurance Companies. Charbonneau has also held various positions with Interstate Insurance Company, most recently as Vice President and Chief Actuary. Charbonneau is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Goodreau has served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary and has led the Administration & Corporate Relations function since our inception. He was appointed as Senior Vice President in February 2007. Prior to joining SUA, Goodreau worked as Vice President and General Counsel for AscendantOne, Inc., a business unit of Insurance Services Office, Inc. in the insurance technology field. Goodreau also served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of a real estate development company and was an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel in its corporate department. Goodreau is a graduate of Harvard Law School.

Rohan has served as Vice President and Controller since our inception and was appointed as an executive officer of the company in November 2006. He has over 25 years of experience in accounting. Prior to joining SUA, Rohan served as Controller for Statewide Insurance Company. Rohan has also held various positions with CNA Financial Corporation, most recently serving as the Assistant Vice President of Insurance Reporting. Rohan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Illinois CPA Society.

Zimmermann was named a director of Specialty Underwriters’ Alliance, Inc. in May 2004. He is a retired partner of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Mr. Zimmermann was employed by Deloitte from March 1965 to May 2000. Mr. Zimmermann has 35 years of experience serving public and privately held companies in the insurance, manufacturing, banking, mutual fund and retail industries, including nearly 28 years serving as lead client services partner. He is a past member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Zimmermann currently serves as a director and chairman of the audit committee of ShoreBank Corporation.

Mr. Whitehead was named a director of Specialty Underwriters' Alliance, Inc. in August 2004. Mr. Whitehead has over 40 years of experience in insurance business. From 1994 to 1997, he was a director of FHP Financial Corporation, a large California HMO. From June 1993 to June 1995, Mr. Whitehead worked on the rehabilitation of the Hawaiian Insurance Guaranty Company, Ltd. From December 1963 to June 1993, Mr. Whitehead worked at Industrial Indemnity Company of San Francisco, California where he held a number of positions, including President and Chief Operating Officer. In addition, from 1955 to 1963 he held numerous insurance and reinsurance positions in London, New York, Montreal and Toronto. In the past he has been heavily involved in insurance hearings and other legislative activities at the state level in California. Mr. Whitehead has been an independent consultant since 1995.

Philp was named a Director of Specialty Underwriters' Alliance, Inc. since February 2005. He has 30 years experience at the executive level in the insurance industry within multiple disciplines, including finance, operations, claims, technology and administration. Mr. Philp has served on the board of directors of various insurance related companies over the course of his career. Mr. Philp is currently a principal of Willowbrook Innovation Associates, an insurance consulting firm, and served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of AscendantOne, Inc. until 2003. In 1997, Mr. Philp founded Amherst Innovation Associates, an investment and technology consulting firm serving the insurance industry, and from 1992 until 1997 he served as President and Chief Financial Officer of AMS Services, an insurance technology vendor.
