Tony Best, 57, joined St. Mary Land & Exploration Company in June 2006 as President and Chief Operating Officer and on February 23, 2007 Mr. Best was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Best has been in the oil industry/energy business for over 28 years. Prior to joining St. Mary, Mr. Best served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Pure Resources, Inc., a Unocal subsidiary, from February 2003 through September 2005, when he elected retirement as a result of Chevron's acquisition of Unocal. At Pure Resources his responsibilities included management of all exploration and production operations and full P&L accountability for Unocal's Lower 48 U.S. Onshore assets, with key business focus in the Permian and San Juan Basins' and the Southeast United States. Mr. Best began his oil and gas career in 1979 when he accepted an engineering assignment in Alaska with ARCO. During his time with ARCO, he progressed through numerous managerial positions, advancing to Prudhoe Bay Field Manager, Vice President of External Affairs for ARCO Alaska, President of ARCO Permian in Midland, Texas, and President of ARCO Latin America headquartered in Caracas, Venezuela. In April 2000, BP acquired ARCO, and he began his own consulting practice offering leadership and oil and gas consultation to energy companies and volunteer organizations. Mr. Best has served on numerous industry and non-profit boards, including the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum, Texas Oil and Gas Association, IPAA and the United Way. He is also on the Board of the Private Enterprise Research Center (PERC) as well as the Advisory Council for Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M. He was elected President of the 10,000 member Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association in 2006, and also serves on the Board of the 12th Man Foundation. Mr. Best earned a Master's of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska and a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1972. Following graduation, he served five years in the U.S. Air Force as an Engineering Officer.

Mark A. Hellerstein is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of St. Mary. He has served St. Mary as President since 1992, Chief Executive Officer since 1995, and was appointed Chairman of the Board in September 2002. Mr. Hellerstein has served as a St. Mary director since 1992.

Mr. Pursell has over 20 years of experience in financial and accounting positions. He most recently was employed at Helix Energy Solutions in Houston, Texas, where he served as Chief Financial Officer from 2000 through July 4, 2008 and as Vice President – Finance and Treasurer from 1997 through 2000. Prior to that, Mr. Pursell spent nine years in positions of increasing responsibility in the Audit Practice of Arthur Andersen specializing in energy-related clients. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Arkansas. He and his family will be relocating from Houston to Denver and he is expected to join the Company on September 8, 2008.

Kevin E. Willson was appointed Senior Vice President and Regional Manager in November 2003. Mr. Willson served as Vice President - Mid-Continent Exploration/Production from October 1998 to November 2003.

Milam Randolph Pharo has been appointed General Counsel and Senior Vice President. He previously held the positions of Vice President – Land and Legal and Assistant Secretary at the Company. He has been an employee of St. Mary since 1996 and served as outside legal counsel for the Company prior to becoming an employee. Mr. Pharo guides and directs the efforts of both in-house and outside counsel providing legal support and services for St. Mary.

David J. Whitcomb has been appointed as Vice President – Marketing. Mr. Whitcomb joined St. Mary in 1994 and previously served as Assistant Vice President – Director of Marketing for St. Mary. He will be responsible for the Company’s marketing efforts for produced oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids.

Dennis Zubieta has been appointed to the position of Vice President – Engineering and Evaluation. Mr. Zubieta has been an employee of St. Mary since 2000 and most recently served as Manager – Reservoir Engineering for the Company. He will oversee and manage the reservoir engineering function for St. Mary as well as provide evaluation support for potential acquisitions and new ventures.

John Monark has recently been appointed to the position of Vice President – Human Resources. In addition, he will have responsibility for corporate administration, media and community relations, and office leasing functions. Mr. Monark joined St. Mary in May 2008. He has over 20 years of human resources experience, including positions with Johns Manville, CH2M HILL and, most recently, Shea Homes.

Kenneth Knott has been appointed to the position of Vice President – Business Development and Land. He has also been appointed as Assistant Secretary. Mr. Knott has been an employee of St. Mary since 2000 and most recently held the position of Land Manager for the Gulf Coast region. He will be responsible for St. Mary’s land administration and business development activities. Mr. Knott will be based in the Company’s Houston office.

William J. Gardiner is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of King Ranch, Inc., a privately held ranching and agricultural company that owns the historic 825,000 acre “King Ranch” in South Texas. He has held that position since 1996. Before joining King Ranch in 1996, Mr. Gardiner served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CRSS, Inc., an independent power producer. He was employed by CRSS for approximately 20 years. Mr. Gardiner was initially appointed as a director of St. Mary in connection with St. Mary’s acquisition of King Ranch Energy, Inc. in 1999.

Barbara M. Baumann is President of Cross Creek Energy Corporation, which provides consulting services for oil and gas exploration and production companies. Ms. Baumann has held that position since July 2003. From 2001 to July 2003, Ms. Baumann was Executive Vice President of Associated Energy Managers LLC, an investment manager and general partner of a private equity energy fund specializing in oil and gas investments for institutional investors. From 1983 to 2001, Ms. Baumann was employed by BP Amoco and held a variety of financial and operational management positions, including Chief Financial Officer of an environmental remediation subsidiary, Vice President of the San Juan Business Unit, and the Commercial Operations Manager of the Western Business Unit. Ms. Baumann is also a director of UniSource Energy Corporation, the parent company for Tucson Electric Power Company (NYSE: UNS).

Julio M. Quintana is President and CEO of Tesco Corporation. Mr. Quintana holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California; with over 26 years of experience in the industry. Before moving to Tesco he was Vice President of Exploitation, Marketing and Vice president and General Manager of the Integrated Project Management division for Schlumberger. Prior to his time at Schlumberger, Mr. Quintana spent 19 years with Unocal Corporation in production, drilling and various management roles.

William D. Sullivan has been retired since August 2003 with the exception of a brief amount of time, from June 15, 2005, to August 5, 2005, when Mr. Sullivan served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Leor Energy LP, a privately held exploration and production company. Since February 2007, Mr. Sullivan has been serving as a director of Targa Resources GP LLC, which is the general partner of Targa Resources Partners LP, a natural gas limited partnership that was listed on NASDAQ in February 2007. Additionally, since March 2006, Mr. Sullivan has been serving as a director of Legacy Reserves GP, LLC, which is the general partner of Legacy Reserves LP, an oil and natural gas limited partnership that was listed on NASDAQ in January 2007. Mr. Sullivan has served as a director of Tetra Technologies, Inc. since August 2007. Mr. Sullivan worked for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company, from 1981 to August 2003. From August 2001 to August 2003, Mr. Sullivan was Executive Vice President, Exploration and Production at Anadarko. Mr. Sullivan also served Anadarko as VP, Operations International, Gulf of Mexico and Alaska in 2001, VP International Operations from 1998 to 2000, and VP Algeria from 1995 to 1998.
