John Paton has been a prominent newspaper executive for 30 years in the U.S. and Canada. Along with his executive position with ImpreMedia, he is also a member of the board. Since 2003, Mr. Paton has built a reputation as a leading Hispanic media executive garnering recognition as a "Media All-Star" from Adweek's Marketing y Medios in 2005 and Hispanic Media Executive of the Year by HispanicAd.com at the 2006 Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies' annual conference - the first bestowed to a non-broadcast Hispanic media executive. Prior to his most recent appointment he was President and Chief Operating Officer of ImpreMedia. He is the former vice-president of Sun Media Corp. - Canada's second largest newspaper chain with nearly $900 million in annual revenues where he sharpened his skills in running newspapers in multiple markets. He is the former publisher of two major Canadian dailies and the CEO of www.canoe.com. Mr. Paton played a senior management role in the 1996 management-led leveraged buyout of Sun Media Corp. and subsequent sale for more than $1 billion. A graduate of the Journalism Program at Ryerson University and the Finance for Senior Executives program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration, he is currently a trustee of the Osprey Media Income Fund and has served on numerous company boards, industry groups and charitable groups.
