(ASX:SUN) is one of Australia's 25 largest companies, and the country's 6th largest bank. It is a leader in Australian financial services. The company focuses on retail customers and small-to-medium-sized businesses, offering banking, financing, life and non-life insurance coverage, investment, and superannuation administration services. Much activity is carried out by subsidiaries such as GIO General, and Suncorp Metway Investment Management Ltd. The company has annual revenue of about $4.7 billion and employs about 8,500 people. John Mulcahy joined Suncorp as Chief Executive Officer on 6 January 2003. He had previously held a number of executive roles at the Commonwealth Bank since 1995. John ranks as one of the most widely experienced financial services executives in Australia. He also has broad management experience, having served as Chief Executive of Lend Lease Property Investment Services and Chief Executive of Civil & Civic prior to 1995. Located in Brisbane, Bernard is Chairman of Enertrade (electricity and gas), Burrell Stockbroking and the Advisory Committee of the Motor Accident Insurance Commission in Queensland.
