Mr. Jesse has been a member of the Sunflower Board of Directors since 1990. He began his tenure at Pioneer in 1991, but has been involved in the co-op program since 1968. He graduated from high school in his hometown of Montrose, South Dakota and has participated in numerous training and educational courses during his career. He got started in the co-op program only one year after graduating from high school. He noted recently that his Dad set a great example for him because he was a strong co-op supporter and leader.

Mr. Severson joined Sunflower in 1983. He was recruited to negotiate the 1988 debt restructuring and manage all accounting and financial activities. He has been the lead negotiator in retaining several large customers and in the negotiation and administration of power sales and fuel supply contracts. He is also involved in the development of the expansion of Sunflower's generation portfolio. Severson received his undergraduate degree from Augustana College, graduating Cum Laude in 1974.

Mr. Chaney joined Sunflower in April 1982 as a Control Room Operator during the late stages of construction of Holcomb Station. He advanced within the Operations Department to his present position. His responsibilities include managing the Operations and Coal & Material Handling departments at Holcomb Station. He began his power generation career in 1974 at a gas and oil-fired municipal plant in Chanute, Kan. His coal-fired experience began in 1979 when he joined Colorado Ute Electric Association in Craig, Colo., as an Equipment Operator during the start-up phase of two 420 MW generating units. During his time at Craig Station, he achieved the skills necessary for a Control Room Operator position.

He is responsible for managing gas resource assets including Cimarron River Station, Clifton Station, Garden City Station, Great Bend Station and Fort Dodge Station. He began his career in the utility industry in 1983 as a Meter Reader for People's Natural Gas in Dodge City, Kan. During the next 17 years, he worked for People's Natural Gas as a Service Specialist, a Gas Marketing Specialist, and a Customer Service Supervisor/Manager. In 2001 he became Assistant Plant Manager for Aquila's Judson Large Station in Dodge City, and he was promoted to Plant Manager in 2004.

Mr. Ratts joined Sunflower in 2007. He is responsible for purchasing, stores and warehousing, and contract administration for Sunflower and MKEC (MKEC is the KS Elect transmission and generation locations that were acquired in the sale of Aquila to Sunflower). He began his power generation career in 1980 as a Plant Operator for Aquila at the Judson Large generating plant in Dodge City, Kan. In 1997 he relocated to Great Bend when he was promoted to Buyer/Planner KS Electric, and in 1998 he became Manager of Material Management. Ratts attended Dodge City Community College and has attended numerous personal development and purchasing/inventory courses.

He led Sunflower's involvement in a DOE Clean Coal Technology program award and partnership arrangement with ADA Environmental Services which resulted in the selection of Holcomb Station for a full-scale mercury removal project. Mr. Evans was elected Vice Chairman of the Board in 2008. He first joined the Sunflower Board as an Alternate Director from 1981-1984. He rejoined the Board in 2000. He has long been associated with cooperatives beginning in 1975 when he was asked to replace a retiring Board member of the Farmers Oil & Supply Cooperative. Evans currently serves as the President of Western's Board of Trustees, a position he's held since 1995. In addition to his cooperative work, Mr. Evans has been in banking since 1985 and, along with his sons, operates a feedlot, and raises forage crops, in addition to wheat and milo production on their 7,000-acre farm.
