Joan Smith-Maclean, M.D., is a family practice physician in Davis, CA. She is also the Davis Site Director of the Sutter Health Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Smith-Maclean grew up in Davis and attended U.C. Davis, where she received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in exercise physiology and played water polo. She received her medical degree from the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University in 1987, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, and completed her residency training in Family Medicine at U.C. Davis in 1990, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Smith-Maclean is a former president of the Yolo County Medical Society and Chief of Staff at Sutter Davis Hospital. She is currently a Clinical Professor of Family and Community Medicine at U.C. Davis. In her free time, Dr. Smith-Maclean enjoys swimming, running, hiking and camping with her husband and daughter.

Dr. Husney is a family medicine physician at the Boise Minor Emergency Center, PA, in Boise, Idaho. Dr. Husney was named an associate medical director for Healthwise in October 2000 and medical director in 2003.

Daniel S. Foreman, M.D. graduated as Valedictorian from U.C. Santa Barbara with a BA in Bio-Chemistry and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He then spent a year at U.C. Berkeley with a 4.0 G.P.A. as a Bio-Physics P.H.D. student. He attained his M.D. in 1986 at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. After his Internship Dr. Foreman entered the US Navy and graduated #1 in his Flight Surgery class at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida. Lt. Foreman was stationed at Miramar as a flight surgeon for CVW-15 and then with VF-124. He became a highly decorated naval officer with two tours of duty to the Persian Gulf on the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson. Dr. Foreman left the navy as a Commander and then completed his Post-Doctoral training in Ophthalmology at the #1 ranked U.C. San Francisco. Dr. Foreman is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is a member of many professional organizations. He has been an Ophthalmologist in private practice since 1995. Dr. Foreman has a strong focus on all forms of refractive surgery. His experience includes LASIK, PRK, as well as other forms of refractive surgery. To date, he has performed thousands of Laser/Ocular procedures. Dr. Foreman has been performing LASIK Surgery since the FDA has allowed this procedure in the United States. In addition to his experience as a Laser Vision Specialists, Dr. Foreman performs state-of-the-art small incision cataract surgery. He also specializes in ophthalmic plastic surgery, diabetic retinopathy, retinal disease, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, and he is a trauma ophthalmologist for Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Dr. Ian MacDonald reviews medical content for Healthwise, a nonprofit organization with a mission to help people make better health decisions. Dr. MacDonald is the Branch Chief of Ophthalmic Genetics and Visual Function at the National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Simon is an internist with specialized training in gastroenterology at the Kingston General and Hotel Dieu Hospitals in Kingston, Ontario. He is a professor emeritus in the Department of Medicine at Queen''s University. In 2000 Dr. Simon received the Aesculapian Society Education Award, as he had earlier in 1995 and 1999. Dr. Simon serves as a manuscript referee for a number of peer-reviewed journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Canadian Medical Association Journal, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, JAMA, the Canadian Journal of Gastroenterology. He is an active researcher and lecturer and is widely published in Canada and the United States.

Dr. Jones specializes in infertility, menopause, and reproductive hormones. She has been a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah School of Medicine since 1983 and was appointed Professor in 2000. Dr. Jones also serves as Vice Chair of the department and was appointed Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in 1997. Dr. Jones served as Medical Director of Planned Parenthood of Utah. She has participated in a number of research projects and is the author or coauthor of numerous journal articles on gynecological topics and fertility.

Dr. Weinstock specializes in psychopharmacology and perinatal psychiatry at her private practice in Mount Kisco, New York. She is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, in which she has served as chairperson of the gender committee. Before going into private practice, Dr. Weinstock was coordinator of the Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry Service Outpatient Department of New York Hospital, Westchester Division of Weill Cornell''s Department of Psychiatry. From 1993 to 1996 she was a consultant in psychopharmacology at the Center for Mental Health and Retardation in Woburn, Massachusetts. She is an accomplished speaker who has made numerous presentations at national and international conferences.

Lynn received training in Spiritual Direction at the Spiritual Direction Institute and has also studied Clinical Pastoral Education through the Sutter Health System. She previously served as Associate Director of Maryhouse Mustard Seed School (Loaves and Fishes), is a trained Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and is currently Chaplain at the Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Dr. Gabica is a full-time medical director for Healthwise, Incorporated, in Boise, Idaho. In 1980, he was one of the founders of the Idaho Wellness Center, an innovative family practice based on prevention, self-care, and self-responsibility. He has served as an associate medical director for Healthwise since August 2004.

Robert A. Kloner, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine in the Cardiovascular Division, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles. He is also Director of Research at the Heart Institute of Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles and attending cardiologist at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr Kloner received his MD in the honors program in medical education and his PhD from Northwestern University The Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital (formerly Peter Bent Brigham Hospital) in Boston, Massachusetts. Additional training included clinical and research fellowships in medicine and cardiology at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital. He served as Assistant and then Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and as an attending cardiologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. There he received the Established Investigator Award of the American Heart Association (AHA). Dr Kloner is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, an inaugural fellow of the Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences of the AHA, and was elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation. A frequent contributor to the medical and scientific press, Dr Kloner has contributed 500 original papers, 196 chapters or monographs, and 410 abstracts. He is the author and editor of 18 medical texts, including Cardiovascular Trials Reviews (10 editions), The Guide to Cardiology, Stunned Myocardium, Ischemic Preconditioning, VIAGRA, and Heart Disease & Erectile Dysfunction and 3 novels titled The Beta Virus, Mind Cure, and The Deity Genes. Among his editorial responsibilities, Dr Kloner serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Therapeutics and the International Journal of Impotence Research and is on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, American Journal of Cardiology, American Journal of Geriatric Cardiology, Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, Heart, Heart Disease, Basic Research in Cardiology, and Regenerative Medicine. Among his many career distinctions, Dr Kloner has been listed in Who's Who in America and The Best Doctors in America and in 2002 was identified by the Institute for Scientific Information as ISI Highly cited.com; one of the world's most highly cited scientific authors.

Dr. Stephen Fort reviews medical content for Healthwise, a nonprofit organization with a mission to help people make better health decisions. Dr. Fort is an Associate Professor and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at Dalhousie University and Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Stephen Peters, M.D. is a California native and was valedictorian of his undergraduate class at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. He attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and performed his Internal Medicine internship and residency at Oregon Health Sciences University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society for excellence in teaching. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, and was elected Chief Fellow. Dr. Peters' interests include consultive/critical care cardiology, valvular heart disease, myocardial infarction and congestive heart failure treatment. He practices at Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where he is Chairman of Internal Medicine. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. Dr. Peters is married and has four children.

Ed Bonner began his law enforcement career at the Placer County Sheriff's Office in 1974 and was promoted through the ranks to Undersheriff. He was elected Sheriff in 1994 and to office in January 1995. Ed also instructs a class in ethics in law enforcement at Sierra College and teaches at the California Peace Officers' Standards and Training (POST) Command College. Additional educational achievements include the FBI National Academy in 1984; POST Command College in 1990 (class speaker and most inspirational student); Cal-Poly Pomona MA in Management Sciences (with honors) in 1992; National Sheriffs' Institute in 1996; FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development in 1998; POST Executive Development 1999, and Transition Management (POST Command College).

Felicenne H. Ramey is Professor and Dean Emeritus, College of Business Administration, California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). She has served in the CBA as Dean, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research, as Chair, Department of Organizational Behavior and Environment, and as Special Assistant to the President. During the 1992-93 academic year, she served as an American Council on Education Fellow (ACE) at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), later serving as Assistant Chancellor at UCSC. She has published in the areas of consumer bankruptcy, minority affairs, business law, affirmative action, biological sciences and women in management. Her latest research publications have been on women as administrators in higher education, with a particular emphasis on African American women. Lately, she had expanded her research to International issues. She has received many awards, including the Sacramento Business Journal's "Women Who Mean Business" Award, Distinguished Faculty Award and Order of the Hornet Award from California State University, Sacramento, Alumni Association. Ms. Ramey serves on many boards and recently opened a business, EbonArt, that specializes in art from the African Diaspora.
