The Synergy Bank division of New York Community Bank (NYCB) traces its roots to the early 1950s, when it was founded as a federal credit union by a group of employees from one of New Jersey?s major pharmaceutical firms. In 1998, the credit union?s members voted to convert to a savings institution. With this change, Synergy began to expand its branch network throughout central New Jersey, and to offer its products and services to the broader community under a new name: Synergy Bank. Over the years, the Bank has evolved into a full-service institution, recognized for its customer-driven menu of loans and deposits, as well as its commitment to a level of personal service that is second to none. With the merger of Synergy Bank into New York Community Bank on October 1, 2007, we have joined one of the nation?s leading financial institutions, known throughout the Metro New York/New Jersey region for the size and convenience of its branch network?180 branches, including 53 in New Jersey?the breadth of its product menu, the quality of its assets, and its significant capital strength.
