Farmers worldwide turn to Syngenta for their chemical needs. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, Syngenta AG (NYSE: SYT; Swiss: SYNN) is one of the world's largest agrochemical firms. The company operates in three segments: Crop Protection, Seeds, and Plant Science. It offers herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, seed treatments, turf products, public health products, and the seeds of soybeans, corn, tomatoes, beans, oilseeds, cereals, sugar beats, and other plants. It also offers applied biotechnology solutions to agricultural applications. Operations are carried out in about 90 countries. In April 2006, it formed joint venture and licensing agreements with DuPont, to facilitate the out-licensing of seed genetics and biotech traits.
