Thomas P. Smith is the President of TASER International, a company he co-founded with his brother in 1993. TASER International, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, is the world's leading manufacturer of conductive energy non-lethal weapons which are currently deployed by more than 7500 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Mr. Smith had primary responsibility for establishing the operations and logistics of the Company in the beginning while his brother focused on research and development and marketing. From 1994 through 1996, Mr. Smith was responsible for the accounting, finance and operations. In 1996, Mr. Smith had responsibility for moving the manufacturing operations from the U.S. to Mexico using a Cessna 414 that he piloted to commute weekly from Scottsdale to Mexico. He ran the manufacturing and operations areas in the U.S. and Mexico through 2001 including the final relocation from Mexico back to Scottsdale. Starting in 1997, Mr. Smith began his involvement in the export sales activities in addition to his manufacturing and operations responsibilities. After the Company's IPO in May, 2001, Mr. Smith moved full-time into the Company's sales area where his primary responsibility remains today. Mr. Smith's prime responsibilities are managing both domestic and international sales for TASER International. This requires worldwide travel to over 40 countries to conduct presentations for government officials and for law enforcement agency command staff demonstrations. In addition, Mr. Smith directs all interactions for the company with the federal government including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Justice, and the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in Washington, DC. Mr. Smith also overseas the highly sensitive area of aircraft security and has spent over a two years assisting with lobbying efforts in Washington, DC.

Steve is the Vice President of Marketing and the Vice President of International Sales for TASER International. In his dual role as Vice President, Steve carries full responsibility for directing TASER's international strategy, public relations, and sales, as well as directing global messaging and marketing. Steve's marketing emphasis merges TASER International messaging, and proven marketing techniques, with current day technological marketing strategies. He employs "word of mouth" marketing strategies that generate communications and discussion amongst TI's customer base. There is nothing more valuable than a personal recommendation from one customer to another. It has the power to build awareness and motivate trial. This builds upon the revolutionary themes of the new Internet, Web 2.0, and social networking. For International Sales strategies, Steve focuses on ensuring that local cultures are respected and maintained. Every region of the world has the responsibility to ensure that human rights are respected. Steve builds on this theme, using a sophisticated network of local distributors, to deliver the message that TASER saves lives everyday. Despite cultural differences, people have a desire to reduce injuries and death to police and the people they protect. Prior to joining TASER International, Steve was with the Seattle Police Department for 13 years, 5 years of which he was assigned to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team. Steve is as an expert in non-lethal weapons. He has testified before the Washington State Legislature, acted as a trainer for the National Association of Field Training Officers and was author of numerous studies on specific non-lethal weapons policies. Steve also completed a review on non-lethal weapons policy for the National Institute of Justice. He has earned a number of awards for his police service, including a SWAT Distinguished Service Award (2002). Steve holds a B.S. degree from the University of Oregon and is currently completing an M.B.A. with an international focus at the Edinburgh Business School, United Kingdom. Steve also holds a certificate in Sales Management from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business.
