TDC is any chatty Dane's best friend. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, TDC A/S (NYSE: TLD (ADR) Copenhagen) is Denmark's largest telecommunications provider. The company has 3.5 million fixed lines, 7 million mobile phone accounts, almost 2 million internet access accounts, and almost 1 million cable television subscribers. It also publishes print and online directories for Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. The company has annual revenue of about $8.2 billion and employs about 20,600 people. In March 2006 TDC requested the New York Stock Exchange to delist its American Depositary Shares ('ADSs'), evidenced by American Depositary Receipts. TDC also filed an application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for withdrawal of its ADSs and its ordinary shares from listing on the New York Stock Exchange. This follows the acquisition of 88.2% of TDC's shares by Nordic Telephone Company ApS.
