They start on a blank tape everytime! TDK Corporation (NYSE: TDK (ADR)) makes blank audiotapes and CDs and DVD's. It is also a major supplier of such products as ferrite magnets, transformer and inductor cores, and multilayer chip capacitors. Its other products include voltage-controlled oscillators, noise reduction filters, and magnetic recording heads used inside computer disk drives. Founded in 1935, this $6.8 billioncompany is based in Tokyo, Japan and employs about 37,000 people. In July 2005 the company acquired London-headquartered Invensys plc.'s Lambda Power Division, which mainly develops, manufactures and sells power supplies, at a cost of approximately US$235 million (approx. AÑ26.0 billion). In June 2005 the company acquired Amperex Technology Limited, a manufacturing and sales company of Polymer Lithium Batteries, based in Hong Kong and having manufacturing sites in Dongguan, China. In April 2005 Golden Gate Capital acquired TDK Semiconductor Corporation.
