TM Advertising

Terry Tex Toler joined the Advent/GX Team recently after 8 years as Co-op Marketing Manager for the State of Texas Economic Development & Tourism account for TM Advertising. Toler traveled the far reaches of the Lone Star State presenting cooperative advertising opportunities to Texas tourism partners. Serving as Director, Travel Publications Division, for Advent/GX, Toler combines his extensive publishing, advertising and economic development and tourism expertise for the travel and tourism publications AGX produces. Tex was the founding publisher of Texas Times magazine, after having cut his teeth in the industry for such publications as Texas Monthly, Houston Home & Garden, Continental Airlines magazine, among others. Toler joined McCann-Erickson in 1999 after the ad agency won the Texas Tourism account, having won acclaim for his cooperative marketing efforts and economic development for the small, West Texas town of Sanderson in the Big Bend Country. Some of his work included a bid for the West Texas Spaceport, having the Texas Legislature name Sanderson the Official Cactus Capital of Texas, founding the Prickly Pear Pachanga, which celebrates that status, an award-winning marketing and identity program, the award of a major transportation grant to restore Sanderson's historic depot, and garnering state, national and international news for the community. Toler received his Economic Development certification from TEEX in 1998, and is a certified professional grant writer. He holds a BA in mass communications from Texas State University in San Marcos and currently resides in Austin, where he has been involved in several historic preservation efforts. He is a longtime member of several professional organizations, serving in committee and board capacities over the years, including the Texas Travel Industry Association, Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, the Austin Advertising Federation, among others.
