We are a leading provider of contract oil and natural gas drilling services, primarily in the United States (U.S.) Gulf of Mexico shallow water and inland marine region, an area that we refer to as the U.S. Gulf Coast. We provide these services primarily to independent oil and natural gas companies, but we also service major international and government-controlled oil and natural gas companies. Our customers in the U.S. Gulf Coast typically focus on drilling for natural gas. We provide contract oil and gas drilling and other support services and report the results of our operations in four business segments which, for our contract drilling services, correspond to the principal geographic regions in which we operate: U.S. Gulf of Mexico Segment We currently have 18 jackup and three submersible rigs in the shallow water U.S. Gulf of Mexico which begins at the outer limit of the transition zone and extends to water depths of about 350 feet. Our jackup rigs in this segment consist of independent leg cantilever type units, mat-supported cantilever type rigs and mat-supported slot type jackup rigs that can operate in water depths up to 250 feet. Our three submersible rigs are suitable to work in water depths up to 85 feet.
