Working at Tom's of Maine was always a "wouldn't it be cool" dream job for Bill, who used to spend his summers at a Maine camp and had long been familiar with the company and its values. So when he and his wife decided to move to Maine, where their families lived, one of his first thoughts was to look into working for Tom's. With both a master's degree in chemical engineering and an MBA from MIT, he was a natural, but found himself turned away at first because the position for which he was qualified had been held by a longtime employee with no plans to retire. But Bill was persistent and it paid off when a new position in his area opened up after all.
