Total Performance was founded in 1971, with you, the street rod consumer in mind. As hot rodders ourselves, we recognized the need for quality, hard-to-find specialty car parts. As a result, our catalog is full of T/P parts that have been designed, engineered, developed and tested for your special needs. During our first five years in business, we found the direction of Total Performance turning to the construction of finished, "turn-key" cars. At the time, building a street rod from "scratch" and trying to get it titled and registered proved to be a sometimes difficult task! As Total Performance grew, it was necessary to look into certifying ourselves as Licensed Manufacturers of Specialty Automobiles. Since '76, as the only D.O.T. Approved specialty car manufacturer in the state of Connecticut, and quite possibly the only licensed specialty car manufacturer in the street rod kit market, our street rod packages come complete with state issued Manufacturer Statement of Origin to help you title your new Total Performance rod.
