D. Patrick "Pat" Kruse is executive vice president for UGS. UGS is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with 4.3 million licensed seats and 47,000 customers worldwide. The company promotes openness and standardization and works collaboratively with its customers in creating enterprise solutions that enable them to transform their process of innovation. Kruse reports to UGS chairman, CEO and president, Tony Affuso and is responsible for planning and supporting UGS' Leadership Development program as well as other high-priority strategic projects. Kruse was previously executive vice president for the Americas at UGS, and prior to that, vice president of Unigraphics Solutions Inc. (a publicly traded company) and UGS PLM Solutions, a subsidiary of EDS. In 2001, EDS, which was a majority shareholder of Unigraphics Solutions, acquired all outstanding shares of the company and merged it with the recently acquired Structural Dynamics Research Company (SDRC) to form the PLM line of business later known as UGS PLM Solutions. Kruse joined EDS in 1991 during EDS' acquisition of McDonnell Douglas Information Systems. In 1993, he became vice president-Americas for Unigraphics. Before joining EDS he spent 15 years in sales management and marketing for McDonnell Douglas Information Systems, assuming increasing levels of responsibility throughout that time. Kruse received a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautics from St. Louis University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma City University. From 1970 to 1975 he served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. Pat Kruse's hobbies include golf, travel and reading. He lives in St. Louis Mo., with his wife, Gail.

While at Novell, Shirk managed Novell's Net Services Software strategy, and the roadmap for all of Novell's products. Prior to his tenure at Novell, Shirk served as vice president of marketing for Oracle Corporation's Industry Applications Division. In this role, he built the vertical industry go-to-market capability for Oracle, which tripled its applications revenue during his tenure. A graduate of The Ohio State University, Shirk brings more than 17 years of experience in strategy, sales, marketing, product development, product marketing, business applications and vertical industry business solutions to UGS. Dave Shirk enjoys auto and shifter kart racing, and spending time with his wife Dina and son Austin. He is based at UGS' corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas.

He represents UGS PLM Solutions on the board of PACE (Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering), a partnership linking GM, Sun Microsystems, UGS and EDS in the support of strategically-selected academic institutions worldwide to develop the automotive product lifecycle management teams of the future. Arlin is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). Ed Arlin lives in Farmington Hills, Michigan., and has three children, Alex, Kelsie and Tara. He is active in the Boy Scouts program as a Den Leader. His hobbies include tennis, football and reading.

Duncan began his eventual association with UGS when he joined McDonnell Douglas Information Systems in 1986 as vice president, responsible for a wide portfolio of products in several European countries. Following the acquisition of McDonnell Douglas Information Systems' CAD/CAM business by EDS in 1991, Duncan transferred to EDS and was appointed vice president of the European Zone of EDS' Unigraphics Solutions Division. In 2001, EDS merged Unigraphics Solutions Inc. with the recently acquired Structural Dynamics Research Company (SDRC) to form the PLM line of business later known as UGS PLM Solutions, and Duncan was appointed vice president of EMEA for the new organization. In 2005 he took on the dual responsibilities of heading UGS' leadership development initiative as well as expanding the company's CAx market presence. Before joining McDonnell Douglas, Duncan spent four years with Computervision and GE Calma in European Management. He also worked in various Sales Management positions with Honeywell Information Systems in the UK and previously held a number of appointments in the public sector in Scotland including Computer Management. Born in Larkhall, Scotland, Duncan qualified as a Chartered Public Accountant at the University of Strathclyde. He lives in Sunningdale, UK with his wife Mae and has one daughter and two sons. Dan Malliet is senior vice president of Human Resources (HR) for UGS. Malliet and his team have responsibility for all global HR operations as well as payroll. With over two decades of HR experience, Malliet has developed broad expertise as both a leader and hands-on program developer in all areas of HR practice in a wide variety of industries, including financial services, insurance and software. Over this time he has grown especially adept at leading change and building positive corporate cultures. Prior to joining UGS he served as Executive Director of HR with Engineering Animation Inc. (EAI), a leader in Internet-enabled visual process management, collaboration, analysis and communication solutions for extended manufacturing enterprises. In 2000 EAI was acquired by Unigraphics Solutions, Inc. an EDS company and in 2001 became part of UGS PLM Solutions, an EDS subsidiary formed from the merger of Unigraphics Solutions and Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC). In 2002 Dan left the company for an executive position in the insurance industry, but returned in 2003, when he was appointed to his current position. Previously Malliet spent 11 years with Wellmark, a highly diversified health care and employee benefits company where he served as the Director of Human Resources. This followed four years at Norwest Corporation (now Wells Fargo) where he held a series of increasingly responsible positions building and managing HR functions. Prior to beginning his career in HR, Malliet worked in the mental health field as a Group and Family Counselor, Substance Abuse Counselor and Youth Counselor. He opened outreach services to rural communities and was active with Juvenile and Family court regarding juvenile delinquency and family counseling situations. This experience has given him insight that he still finds valuable in his personal and professional life today. Dan received his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology/sociology and a Master of Science in Industrial Relations from Iowa State University, where he graduated with Phi Kappa Phi academic honor. Dan enjoys people, golf, classic car restoration and mechanics. He especially enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenagers.
