Dr. Jeffs joined United Therapeutics in September 1998 as Director of Research, Development and Medical. Dr. Jeffs was promoted to Vice President of Research, Development and Medical in July 2000, and to President and Chief Operating Officer in January 2001. From 1995 to 1998, Dr. Jeffs worked at Amgen, Inc. where he served as the worldwide clinical leader of the Infectious Disease Program. Dr. Jeffs currently leads the clinical development, commercial and business development efforts at United Therapeutics. He has served as a United Therapeutics director since 2002, and his current term expires in 2011.

Ms. Stagg-Hope is a Senior Regulatory Coordinator at United Therapeutics Corporation in Research Triangle Park, NC. She holds expertise in the areas of biotechnology information, FDA regulations and guidances, and agency submissions for regulatory affairs. She has extensive experience in electronic submissions including eCTD, electronic signatures,and assisting companies with compliancy for submissions, assessments, template designs, systems validations, and agency contacts for all countries.

Baruch S. Blumberg, M.D., Ph.D. , is a Distinguished Scientist at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, and Professor of Medicine and Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Blumberg's research has covered many areas including clinical research, epidemiology, virology, genetics and anthropology. Dr. Blumberg was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1976 for his work on infectious disease, specifically for the discovery of the Hepatitis B virus, and has also been elected to the National Inventors Hall of Fame for similar work. Dr. Blumberg's research and insight into infectious diseases has been extremely valuable to Maxygen's programs related to vaccines and Hepatitis B in particular.

Louis Sullivan served as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services from 1989 to 1993. Prior to and following his service as HHS Secretary, he was President of Morehouse School of Medicine, which he now serves as President Emeritus. He is co-chair of The Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS. A graduate of Morehouse College, he earned his medical degree from Boston University, and is certified in internal medicine and hematology. The recipient of 45 honorary degrees, he served on the faculties of the medical schools at Harvard, Seton Hall, and Boston universities before arriving at Morehouse in 1975. He was also the founding president of the Association of Minority Health Professions Schools.

Mr. Giltner has over twenty years of experience in the financial sector. His areas of expertise include international financial markets, financial derivatives, alternative investments and asset management. Prior to beginning a one-year sabbatical on October 15, 2008, Mr. Giltner served as a managing director of Societe Generale Asset Management and head of the European office for its fund of hedge funds group, a position he has held since 2006. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Giltner was the global head of foreign exchange options for the investment banking arm of Societe Generale. He has also held various other managerial positions with Societe Generale since joining the company in 1991. Mr. Giltner was appointed to the Board of Directors on April 29, 2009, and his current term expires in 2010.
